Q: What are the factors you would consider when deciding between homeschooling and traditional school for a middle schooler who is active in theater and karate?
The key factors are the child's willingness to take ownership of independent learning, the ability to handle the curriculum with minimal handholding, and whether social needs and activities like theater and karate can be fully met outside of a traditional school. If the child can work independently and meet minimal requirements while staying engaged in important activities, homeschooling can work; otherwise, regular school may be necessary to ensure social interaction and structure.
