We need more people like him speaking out. He is my “go to” for all questions related to raising children
If you sometimes wonder why it is harder for you to raise your kids than it was for your parents to raise you, you should listen to this. His content is pretty different from what you would hear nowadays, simply because parenting today took a drastic turn from how it used to be. He is not a ‘dinosaur’ promoting excessively strict and violent parenting, in fact he is showing you a natural viewpoint of how you should raise your kids, with love and your parental leadership.
John Rosemond is a dinosaur who claims to be a parenting expert, yet states that children are inherently sinful, and says “psychology” like it’s a dirty word, even though he himself relies on his qualification as a family psychologist to validate his garbage, unscientific opinions. He mistakes correlation for causation repeatedly in his podcast, and touts anecdotal observations as fact. Don’t waste your time listening to this.
I think you need to do some more research on gentle parenting because it is not what you describe at all. I think you might have misunderstood. Furthermore, the term “child rearing” makes it sound like your children are animals. Animals are reared, not kids. Children deserve respect and compassion, and it doesn’t sound like you’re advocating for that at all, which is a huge shame. Drop the cynicism and you might find that gentle parenting is exactly what the next generation of children need.
We have been following John’s advice and it has been amazing. Our boys are becoming responsible, considerate and happy kids. His advice on electronic devices is a “game-changer” (pardon the expression).
