Hi, we’re Deb Perelman (Smitten Kitchen) and J. Kenji López-Alt (Serious Eats, The Food Lab, The Wok). We’re professional home cooks, which means we can - and will - make the same meal 57 times in a row on the quest for the perfect recipe. Is it crazy? For us, no, because we do this for a living. But for you? Yes, probably. Which is why you should listen to The Recipe with Kenji and Deb. You'll he... more

Kenji and Deb are great - learn so much from both of you and think you are a good match on the podcast!
While I enjoy your podcast, I object to Milk Street and the insistence that a listener can only get a recipe if you are a paying customer. Sorry, while I am fairly certain one French toast recipe, that he touts on your podcast, isn’t going to break Mr Kimball, it will stop me from listening.
This last episode (French toast) was a mess. Chris Kimball seemed to be trying to drag politics into the conversation, the overall flow was choppy, and editing was weird. The tension between the hosts was palpable.
Banter not the most natural. Last 3 questions of every episode (does it waffle? etc…) are gimmicky. Others seem to enjoy or get tips. So probably just not for me as someone who loves food, has always watched lots of cooking shows but doesn’t cook much beyond the basics. Just don’t connect with either of them.
I am loving the back and forth. I admire Kenji and Deb , however the comments about Kenji are unfair. If those who only want to hear Deb should watch her on YouTube
