ピアノに夢中な、高校2年生の娘。帰宅した瞬間から何時間も弾き続ける毎日を過ごしています。
ただ、ピアノへの想いは学校の先生にはあまり理解されていない。それよりも「休み時間の5分、10分も、勉強に使いなさい」と言われています。
娘は「休み時間は友達と話してリフレッシュしたい。その分、授業は真剣に頑張る」と考えている。
この行き違いに、親としてどこまで口を出すべきなのか。
3人で考えました。
「いつも私はしてあげているのに、あなたは何も返してくれない」。
メンバーの一人が、知人から言われた言葉です。見返りなんて求めず、ただ協力したかったから動いたつもり。だけど後になって、不満をぶつけられた・・・。
人に何かをしてあげる時、私たちは無意識に、恩が返ってくることを期待しているのかもしれません。でも、そもそも人間関係は取引ではない。では、どんな気持ちでいればいいのか。
3人で、じっくり考えました。
子育てをしていると、キャリアが止まる。
そんな空気が、社会にまだ残っているように感じます。
でも、本当にそうでしょうか。
限られた時間の中で仕事を終わらせる力。子どもの気持ちを聞き出す力。
子育てにちゃんと向き合えば、おのずとビジネススキルも爆上がりする。
今回は「子育てはキャリアアップだ」という話から、会社やチームで子育てをどう支えるか、そして最後は「大人は子どもの話をちゃんと聞けているのか」という耳の痛い問いまで話しました。
親としても、大人としても、まだまだ伸びしろだらけです。
今回のテーマは、「伝える」 です。
うまく、きれいに、簡潔に、多くの人に届くように話すこと。テクニックとして大事かもしれません。
でも本当に伝わるのは、 目の前の1人に、本気で届けようとする言葉ではないでしょうか。
プレゼン、文章、子どもとの会話。 伝えることと聞くことの間にある、 コミュニケーションの本質について話しました。
「この人なら離れていかない」と、親しい家族や友人に、強い言葉を使ってしまう。
でも、それではいつか関係が壊れてしまうかもしれません。
今回は、大切な人への言葉の選び方と、大人になってからの「ごめんね」について、3人の後悔や気づきを交えながら話しています。
子供の話を、つい遮ってしまう。
相手の言葉の途中で「つまりこういうこと？」と先回りしてしまう。
「遮る」という何気ない行動から始まった会話が、
「子育てに本気で向き合う人が、一番できる人だ」
という仮説にたどり着きました。
育児はキャリアストップではなく、キャリアアップ——そんな話です。
仕事でも、私生活でも「合わないなら離れればいい」だけでは済まない場面があります。相手の考えを受け入れるべきなのか、自分の正しさを主張すべきなのか。それとも、無理にわかってもらおうとしなくてもいいのか。
今回は、仕事上のやり取りや、子どもとの関わりをきっかけに、「違う考えの人と向き合う意味」について話しました。
否定された経験が自分を磨くこともある。嫌だという気持ちの奥には、大切な理由が隠れていることもある。そして、誰かに向き合うためには、まず自分に余裕が必要なのかもしれない。

子どもを育てながら、実は親が試されているのでは。
そんなことを3人で正直に話しました。
正解はありません。
でも、子どもに求めることは、
まず自分たちもできるようでいたい。
