Shining the light of reason in this world of madness. Every single interviewee comes across as totally wise and sensible but never bigoted. Absolutely well worth listening to every episode.

  • Great show

So first time listener and by chance tuned into episode 16. Thanks so much from me, it made me feel less alone. I’m living under the radar in terms of my GC views because of my job/mortgage. And hating that I do this. The understanding that women sometimes have to keep a low profile for financial reasons and fear of repercussions made me feel better. Thank god for women like you.

Episode 41: Jamie Reed and Gender Affirming Care
Q: What prompted you to start questioning the care model in pediatric gender medicine?
A combination of rising patient numbers, the lack of written protocols, and the realization that many decisions were driven by the expectation to affirm rather than assess, which clashed with her background in science and medicine.
Episode 36: Karleen Gribble and Language
Q: How did the conversation start around non-gendered language, and what catalyzed this shift?
The shift began around 2014-15 with broader awareness in the US and Canada, accelerated by the pandemic and international organizations pushing for person-centered language, though the speaker emphasizes that the core issue is about accurately representing people's sex when it matters.
Episode 32: For Women Scotland and the Supreme Court
Q: Can you take us to that place? And was there a moment where you realized like, oh no, this is not what it seems?
Susan reflected on how the Gender Representation on Public Boards Act appeared positive for women's representation, but ultimately served to dilute the definition of woman under law.
Episode 32: For Women Scotland and the Supreme Court
Q: What was the moment where you decided, right, OK, yes, it needs to be us and we need to do this now?
Susan and her colleagues felt a strong need to challenge the Scottish government's policies based on Trina's excitement about the potential impact of their legal challenge.
Episode 33: Mandy Clare
Q: What can listeners understand about the scope and responsibilities of councils in women's lives?
Mandy explains councils' oversight roles in schools, social services, and how policies directly affect gender-related issues.
