  • So much to learn!

I can genuinely say that this is one of the most valuable "hidden gem" podcasts that I've ever run across! IAQ Radio is no doubt an incredible resource for indoor air quality professionals, but in the pandemic age, there's a lot to gain for laymen listeners as well. Radio Joe and the Zman consistently facilitate crucial conversations around cleaning up our indoor air that are both informative and engaging. Highly recommend checking it out!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Eugenia Mirica, PhD, EMSL Labs - Laboratory Methods for Wildfire Impact Assessment
Q: Would a gas stove also throw you off on that?
Gas stove, yes. Yes, that's because it's a harder carbon. If the oxygen ratio is not in a proper range, then yes, it could burn incomplete and uncontrollably and produce soot, yes.
Eugenia Mirica, PhD, EMSL Labs - Laboratory Methods for Wildfire Impact Assessment
Q: Is there one more slide there, Grace?
I don't think I have much if I do. Well, this is very fast. It's not really very important.
Eugenia Mirica, PhD, EMSL Labs - Laboratory Methods for Wildfire Impact Assessment
Q: What seems to be the preference in the field? What do most people use?
The most used media is tape lifts lately, because it is mentioned as being preferable for AIHA and the AIHA technical guide.
Eugenia Mirica, PhD, EMSL Labs - Laboratory Methods for Wildfire Impact Assessment
Q: Dr. Mirica, can I ask a quick question on this char thing? It would seem to me, and I'm not at all an expert on wildfire or fires in general, but char would seem like the easiest thing to determine.
Yes, it's the easiest thing if you have the right tools. But yes, char is the best indicator of the wildfire residue.
Ralph Moon, PhD Jeremy Beagle, CIH - Post-Remediation Verification after a Flood or Sewage Loss
Q: What is the most common concern in PRV (Post-Remediation Verification)?
The biggest hardship with PRV is the over-reliance on sampling, rather than thorough physical inspections and observations of conditions.
