  • Has potential, but unlistenable

There is good content in here, but the audio quality is just not acceptable, especially for a podcast targeting musicians who care about… audio. Fixing this, and putting more effort into the overall editing would help greatly.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

S5.10/E89: Revenue Stream Checklist w/ Eli Borg of The Girl
Q: What's your experience with setting up your publishing and rights infrastructure?
We're moving through ASCAP and found value in adding a publishing administrator (Song Trust or Centric) to ensure we collect all publishing royalties beyond just performance rights; keeping everything organized helps prevent money from going into the black box.
S5.8.1/E86: How to Break Into the Concert Industry w/ Lifestyle Events’ Dana Chard
Q: What is Lifestyle Events and why are you Dana's angel?
Lifestyle Events is a full-service production company that handles every logistical piece of an event—from talent buying and venue rental to advance work and insured operations—aimed at turning big ideas into executable experiences. Dana is described as the chief inspiration officer who brings a collaborative, execution-focused approach to make complex events happen smoothly.
S5.6/E84: Setting Up Your Release and Distribution Plan w/ Bandcamp GM Dan Melnick
Q: What makes Bandcamp Fridays meaningful for artists?
Bandcamp Fridays offer a direct, high-impact revenue boost by waiving platform commissions and directing 100% of proceeds to artists, creating a powerful moment for fans to support creators and helping artists gain visibility.
S5.6/E84: Setting Up Your Release and Distribution Plan w/ Bandcamp GM Dan Melnick
Q: How should artists price their releases on Bandcamp?
Bandcamp provides a suggested price (e.g., digital albums around $9) based on data and charting requirements, but artists can set minimum prices or name-your-price options to test demand and maximize earnings, while still allowing fans to pay more if they value the music.
S5.6/E84: Setting Up Your Release and Distribution Plan w/ Bandcamp GM Dan Melnick
Q: What's the difference between a pre-order and a pre-save on Bandcamp?
Pre-orders involve fans paying upfront and delivering higher profitability and direct fan data, while pre-saves are more about streaming workflows and often involve fractional earnings, which is less favorable for building a sustainable direct-relationship with fans.
