  • Saddle up to the bar?

I’d like to point out that one “sidles” up to the bar. Saddling a bar would be most difficult.

  • Phenomenal show

Louis, Megan, and Big Mike put on a great show every week. Insights, comedy, entertainment and just all around fun. The group makes the listeners feel like they are a part of the show. It’s horse racing, bourbon, and cigars....what’s not to like?? 5star in my book. Look forward to the show every week. Enjoy!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Preakness 151 Previews | Frank Angst
Q: Is Brittany Russell the headline this weekend given what happened in the Derby, and what does that mean for this race?
It's a great headline and Brittany Russell has earned respect; her success in Maryland and the Breeders Cup positions her well as a rising star, and she represents the shift toward more female trainers succeeding at the highest levels.
Preakness 151 Previews | Bob Ehalt, BloodHorse
Q: Bob, you've been very transparent about your feelings about this, and medication issues — are we at a breaking point with this race?
He suggests giving it one more year to see how pacing, scheduling, and incentives play out before making sweeping changes, and emphasizes the potential impact of a revised TV deal and purse structure on participation.
BloodHorse Monday 5/11/26 | Ocelli heads to Preakness
Q: What was the decision process behind running Ocelli in the Preakness?
Whit Beckman explains that Ocelli came out of the Derby very well and the decision to run in the Preakness was driven by a belief in the horse's capability to compete at a high level and to capitalize on a strong form cycle, despite the Derby being a maiden race for the horse.
BloodHorse at Kentucky Derby 152 | Silent Tactic OUT, Team The Puma
Q: What was the main reason Silent Tactic was scratched from the Derby?
A foot bruise that had been lingering flared up, leading Mark Casse and the team to decide to scratch for the horse's long-term health and potential future races.
BloodHorse Monday 4/20/26 | Kentucky Derby Pedigrees
Q: What stood out to you in the pedigree analysis portion overall?
Alan Porter notes a trio of intermischiefs showing Derby potential and explains how mares with staying power can unlock distance, suggesting Commandment, Renegade, and Patente could all be Derby winners in that lineage.
