  • Toppling Statues is Understandable?

Protesters are at best ignorant or at worse, neo-Marxists that switched from class warfare to race warfare and want to tear down the US.

Besides Confederate statues, protesters have pulled down & vandalized statues of Columbus, Washington, Jefferson, Harrison, Jackson, Lincoln, Grant, T. Roosevelt, Jesus, Mary, police memorials, Union memorials, Frederick Douglas, Hiawatha, Texas Ranger, Kit Carson, Lewis & Clark, Pioneer, Francis Drake, Louis XVI, etc.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Life Lessons from the Lost Greek Plays, w/ James Romm
Q: What does a translator's day look like when working on ancient texts?
He sits at his desk with Latin texts, lexicons, and other translations to cross-check, blending manuscript work with modern reference tools to produce readable yet faithful translations.
Life Lessons from the Lost Greek Plays, w/ James Romm
Q: When did your journey to the classics really start, and how did that lead to this book?
Romm describes a college awakening to the Greek world through mentors and a shift toward translating Stobaeus's fragments, seeing them as doorways to a broader ethical education that still speaks to modern readers.
America's First Serial Killers & the Dark Side of the Revolution, w/ Katherine Grandjean
Q: So let's talk about the journey to this book. How did you come about finding this story?
The research began almost by accident while teaching a course on early American violence; I was drawn into the Harps story after seeing how the old roundup by Richard Maxwell Brown only hinted at what happened, and I followed those threads to uncover a more complex, deeply contextual history.
The Two Ships that Divided America, w/ David S. Reynolds
Q: Did Sumner say this somewhere else, and who else was saying it besides Sumner?
Yes, Reynolds confirms Sumner repeated the line, and he then discovers that Frederick Douglass and other figures echoed the comparison, broadening its historical resonance beyond Sumner alone.
How Do You Repay Those Who Died for Your Freedom? w/ Robert M. Edsel
Q: How did you come upon this story and decide to invest nine years in researching it?
I was studying World War II, asking how so many works of art survived the war, and I kept hearing about people who saved them, which led me to the Monuments Men network. The deeper I dug, the more I realized this was not just about a cemetery but about the living who chose to honor the dead, and that compelled me to continue for years to tell this broader, hopeful story.
