The poor guy tries so hard to sound relatable by dishing out pop culture references with a knowing chuckle, yet he only manages to sound even more condescending, as though he feels he's lowering himself to your level. It feels so gross. Also, he's more aggressive with ad breaks than any other podcast I've tried. Too many deal breakers.
I’ve been following and listening to this podcast for a few years and I just can’t stand the fact that you allow gambling advertisements on something that is angled at being educational.
Next to hardcore history & history on fire their is not a more thought out, better researched or more well put together podcast on some of histories deepest and sometimes controversial but true issues. Alexander does an excellent job presenting the shows topics in a in-depth and factual way. This podcast is a must listen and second to none.Well done Alexander !
Some good material but his speech pattern is annoying.
I’ve been following this podcast since its beginning and have seen Mr. von Sternberg’s level of research and strong analysis grow into maturity that puts him in the top tier of history podcasting. His subject matter ranges widely even as he goes deep with his series. He is connecting with some of the most cogent and far reaching colleagues and academics here and in Europe, bringing perspective and challenge on a number of topics. A must follow.
