Disappointing. I was curious about the Hillsong Scandal, but this podcast leaves much to be desired. It's mostly rambling conversation with jaded, marginal Christians, who were taken in by a pop culture oriented mega Church. No doubt Hillsong had major problems with sinful leadership and Doctrine, but I don't trust Dan, the "progressive" host, to get the story right. And if Delali, the co-host, is indicative of Hillsong's mid-level leadership, the Spirit didn't reside in that place. Do better.
The host repeatedly interviewed people who were “abused by Hillsong”, but there is never any context given. It seemed like the host was just looking for anyone with a grievance to air. I believe there is definitely a story to tell here, but after 4 episodes they hadn’t gotten to it.
It’s very clear this is a one sided look at the church. Not to say there weren’t problems, but people seem to be projecting their issues on the church as though it was at fault. Not a fan.
The podcast is interesting. The show host is too one-sided and not reporting just the facts. One example is stating some things that are not sins when in fact they are. In true Christianity there are things that are absolute truth. These truths are set by God and the Bible. In our society today, people are constantly changing the truths to fit their feelings or inclinations. I invite the host to really study the scriptures and seek clarity from the one true God.
I got through an episode and a half and finally gave up out of irritation. I have no idea what Hillside is, I assume it’s a mega church, of course, but start at the beginning. It’s like you just keep talking and talking and talking about it and there’s no starting point or ending point it’s just a bunch of mishmash of stories that I can’t really follow along because I don’t have any information on this church. You lost me.
