I like Mur Lafferty's work in general. None is too deep that I can't walk away, if there's continuity errors (someone claimed; I didn't notice) I can mentally patch in what's missing, apparently. As a lifelong, church-going, confirmed, Bible studying atheist (all that study convinced me more) I love the portrayal of the heavens, and hells (poor kitties), as well as assorted historical figures. She makes good use of what's already around in the fictional ether.
I liked it a lot. I think Ms. Lafferty's writing is sometimes brilliant, and more
I first listened to this series years and years ago, maybe 2008? It's a quality story and narrated very well. I'm so happy it's still available to listen to as it brings me such nostalgia to listen to it again. Thanks Mur :)
Reminiscent of Neil Gaiman the Heaven series is follows to characters as they meet dead heroes of legend and figure out the conspiracy happening in Heaven. Beautifully narrated, fun and original. Highly recommended.
The way the book jumps around makes it hard to follow. Pretty sophmoric in general never really climaxing to anything worthwhile. Bickering silly gods fighting like children is the plot from what i can tell
Tried to like this but had to switch off after the girl narrator disappeared and then story got considerably confusing and uninteresting.
I originally wanted "noise in the background" while I folded a mountain of laundry but quickly got drawn into the world of Heaven as Mur Lafferty tells it - I'm a big fan of mythological tales being intertwined in modern stories so this was right up my alley. I am on Season 3 currently and simply love the progression of the story. A definite must have and the story that changed my perspective on audio books - although I would love to own these stories in tangible form for sure! Simply brilliant.... more
Mur, you should at least read the Bible before making assumptions.
