Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Hostess by Courtney Psak | GSMC Book Review Podcast
Q: How do you approach character development when the narrator can be unreliable?
I start with a detailed character outline but then let scenes evolve them in new ways; I frequently check in with experts and rework scenes to ensure that the evolving psychology remains believable and the tension remains high.
The Hostess by Courtney Psak | GSMC Book Review Podcast
Q: What drew you to write this suspenseful dual-POV story set in the Hamptons?
The setting naturally creates a glossy, inviting surface that hides darker undercurrents, and the dual perspectives let me explore how two women with different backgrounds perceive danger and truth, keeping readers guessing who to trust.
Louise-Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun by Judith Lissauer Cromwell | GSMC Book Review Podcast
Q: What inspired you to write the biography of Louise-Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun?
I was blown away by her paintings and the brief biography that they posted about her life was fascinating. I wanted to share her exceptional story.
The Cover Girl by Amy Rossi | GSMC Book Review Podcast
Q: Is there anything that we haven't covered that you really wanted to make sure you highlighted or brought up during our time together?
Amy emphasizes Birdie's transition into AIDS activism, reflecting her personal experiences related to loss and societal changes.
The Cover Girl by Amy Rossi | GSMC Book Review Podcast
Q: Was there one piece of research that really stood out for you as either really interesting or really fun?
The documentary 'Versailles 73 American Runway Revolution' provided great insights into modeling and fashion during Birdie's time and was very inspiring.
