I am loving this series on our fair city. Many of the questions asked have also been things I’ve always wondered about, and some I never considered but are still interesting! I guess that’s what makes it complicated!) but from the recent episode, it sounds like we are a long ways off from that setup still. Thanks Ainslie and team f... more

A Blainville teen’s international fight against the Stablex toxic waste dump
Q: How does William see the role of international bodies like the UN or CEC in influencing local environmental decisions?
He views these bodies as potential avenues to apply external pressure and obtain impartial investigations when local or provincial processes seem insufficient, even though outcomes are non-binding.
A Blainville teen’s international fight against the Stablex toxic waste dump
Q: So tell me a little bit more about William. What is it that got him interested in this issue?
William is described as a nature-loving teenager from a farming family who became increasingly engaged as debates about Stablex intensified, leading him to act to protect the wetlands and future generations.
Montreal's most dangerous intersections for cyclists
Q: What were the most striking findings about infrastructure changes or gaps that contribute to risk?
The conversation emphasizes that even with some improvements, conflicts persist where bike paths meet multi-lane roads or where protected lanes are incomplete, suggesting the need for continuous, unified redesign rather than isolated fixes.
Montreal's most dangerous intersections for cyclists
Q: What made you want to look into which Montreal intersections are the most dangerous for cyclists?
Patricia explains she moved to Montreal and noticed how cycling is integrated into daily life, which sparked a deeper dive into where and why hazards occur, comparing data with cyclists' lived experiences.
Heavy rains force Montreal to look at new flood solutions
Q: What causes Montreal to flood so heavily during intense rain events?
A combination of urbanization replacing absorbent ground with concrete, and a dual sewer system that combines wastewater and stormwater, which can overflow when rainfall is heavy and rapid.
