  • Game Changer

This is a podcast I didn’t know I needed in my life, but now I’m obsessed! I don’t typically re-listen to podcasts multiple times, but this one may have inspired me to do so!

One thing I like about Fun Factor is I can listen to nostalgic game content without worrying about spoiling games I haven’t played yet.

This pod simply is fun to listen to. It is very well produced, and the music is a great touch as well!

  • Callbacks & Critiques

This pod is a fun and informative look back at the media and culture around video gaming from years past. It also examines what makes a review or a magazine good and what falls flat, through the interesting lens of foresight, allowing us to look at things from a different perspective. It’s my favorite podcast, hands down. It feels like Ty and Aiden are hanging out with me as we reminisce about when we were younger, and how it all compares to today.

  • It’s Like Reading Game Mags With Friends!

Are you bogged down with how fast we are bombarded with video game news? Do you long for the days where you waited a month for the new issue of your favourite game magazine to release so you and your friends could huddle around and discuss the hot new video games? Well Ty and Aidan have you covered! Each episode is a trip down memory lane tackling an issue and specific review, but they also dive into discussions about the graphic design and advertisements of yesteryear!

  • Turn Based Sports

FunFactor is my return to the love of the written word, my sanctuary away from repeated YouTube video reviews with a wide mouthed face aligned to the right or left of the thumbnail. The review of reviews and the magazine give insight into the time and art of writing for games. Introspective from the hosts connect the then to the now, placing history into modern context.

  • A love-letter to games media of yesteryear

What a fantastic concept, brilliantly executed by Ty and Aidan! Whether the game catches your attention, or the magazine being spotlighted, it’s a delightful trip in the wayback machine for the X-ennial crowd and older Gen Z, as well as providing some fascinating insight on the evolution of games media for younger audiences. Makes a great accompaniment on my commute into work, and I highly recommend it to any folks looking for more gaming-themed podcasts to add to their rotation!
