  • What happened to vol news?

Got kicked off Twitter for the last time, so I came to fill my empty bucket of vols fandom with Jon and the bois. Why is the first 20 minutes of this podcast just hating women and male cheerleaders? Yall have gone full MAGA I guess… Jon seems reasonable, but I’m just looking for a gameday preview for the Syracuse game. Don’t let me catch either of you two in Atlanta this weekend. I love to argue. And Atlanta doesn’t want your bigotry and nonsense here. Super disappointed.

  • Tony Basilio is a fraud

I was a daily listener but adding the sociopath esque Tony Basilio to the programming is an all time bad move. It degrades the credibility of the station. His strays towards other personalities is completely uncalled for

  • Drive and Talk Sports 5 stars

Cutting Jake and Kress was a horrible idea. It’s trending towards regular sports talk radio. What they had was unique and set them apart, adding Bob has been eh - he gives off an arrogant vibe but his show, even with all his contacts, is very average for sports radio.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Drive HR 1 4.9.26: Transfer Portal Intel with Kevin Sweeney
Q: How do programs decide whether to pay top dollar for a transfer?
They weigh the player's proven performance, ceiling, and fit with the program's needs against the risk and long-term financial implications, recognizing that the wrong fit can waste resources in a market where even top players can move again after a year or two.
The Drive HR 1 4.9.26: Transfer Portal Intel with Kevin Sweeney
Q: What are the most valuable assets in the portal right now, according to Kevin Sweeney?
Bigs are the most coveted due to rim protection and rebounding, followed by guards and shooting wings; teams want players who can space the floor and provide interior size and versatility.
The Drive HR 1 4.9.26: Transfer Portal Intel with Kevin Sweeney
Q: How has the transfer portal changed the way teams assemble rosters after the season ends?
The process has become a rapid, hectic sprint over two to six weeks where programs try to plug gaps with high-upside players, shifting from a slower, multi-year signing cycle to a fast-moving market that requires quick evaluations and big potential investments.
The Drive HR 1 4.10.26: Vols Transfer Portal + Orange & White Game with Davey Hudson
Q: Davey, what are your thoughts on the guys that left Tennessee and how it affects the roster going forward?
He acknowledges you lose some players and there will be concern, but he believes Rick Barnes will rebuild with new pieces and that the roster can still be competitive, emphasizing the ever-changing nature of college athletics and the need for fit and development.
The Drive HR 3 4.2.26: Breaking Down the Lady Vols Crisis with Ryan Sylvia
Q: What led to Talasia Cooper entering the transfer portal and how does it affect the roster going into year three?
Cooper's exit follows a season full of internal drama and poor on-court results; with her departure and others, Tennessee is left with very few returning players, signaling a major roster rebuild and shifting recruiting priorities.
