  • Sensitive host

God forbid you disagree Tony. He is as sensitive as they come. It’s also hard to listen to his show because half of it is his on air sponsor list.

  • Tony is a Legend.

I’ve been listening to Tony for decades thanks to my Dad listening to him as I was growing up but now listen to every show thanks to the podcast. There is no better place for UT sports talk than the TB network. I’m a UT grad living in KY and listening to the show makes me feel closer to home. He’s as much of a tradition for me as Rocky Top and running through the T.

  • Sky is Falling

I love Tony but the constant “sky is falling” attitude of the cohosts is beyond tired. And the perpetual backhanded, passive aggressive jabs at players and coaches gets old. Tony and co refuse to believe the team is good and the coaches are smart. It’s just exhausting listening to constant bickering and complaining. And no, I’m not a sheep who needs to be coddled. But a little bit of catching your breath once in a while would go a long way.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

8-26-2026 Wednesday with Watson Brown
Q: Why do you think more true freshmen don't win the starting job out of camp in the SEC?
The answer centers on the presence of an older, established quarterback and the staff's desire to not expose a true freshman to high-stakes situations too early, often leading to a more measured, conservative early approach.
8-21-2026 Tony Basilio Show
Q: What makes the DGG player stand out on the field?
Listeners discuss his explosive balance, change of direction, ability to break tackles, and consistent finishing runs, which left commentators convinced he could be a future standout at the college level.
8-24-2026 Tony Basilio Show
Q: Is starting the true freshman the right move for week one?
Yes, the hosts believe it is the right move given the player's maturity, upside, and fit for the offense, though they acknowledge it may come with risks and learning curves.
8-5-2026 Watson Brown Interview
Q: How do you decide who starts at quarterback when you're in camp and you don't have a clear favorite?
The goal is to have clarity by around the 10th day, but if that isn't possible, you acknowledge the reality, cover it up, and prepare to adapt as needed while observing consistency, timing, and leadership across reps.
8-4-2026 Maury Hanks Interview (Vol Hoops transfer Jalen Washington)
Q: Maury, how are you doing today?
Maury responds that he's doing fine and adds some light humor about the beach and the travel, then shifts to discussing Washington's fit and Tennessee's roster strategy.
