Very interesting story but the hosts voice makes me cringe. Can’t stand the way she talks and questions people about why they did or didn’t do something.
Glad I can change the speed of the podcasts, Moriartys narration does not help me listen to the story I’m so distracted by the slow speech and drawl. To be fair I have to speed up Keith and Andrea at Dateline also- the narration is very different from when all of them face the camera or speak to someone on camera. They sound normal. The voice over narration Though makes me adjust the speed.
I had to push through to finish this story. This journalist shaming the killer’s friend who was a high school kid when all of this happened was very disturbing. All the tragedies that came from this story and she wanted to guilt trip a child? Yet said nothing to Daniel Marsh’s father about being told his son was a killer. This lady is terrible. She needs to study Keith Morrison!
To think a young boy of fifteen cause so much grief. Scares me to think that California is so willing to make changes so easily. Thank you to all who worked and developed this pod cast but bravo to Erin Moriaty her reporting, is outstanding her voice is so calming yet kept me on edge.
A sad senseless story, well written and well told. The only negative thing I have to say is that it was wrong for Erin Moriarty to chastise the young man who didn’t immediately go to the police at 15 or 16 when he was told about the murders. We’re talking about a kid. Please think about that in the future when interviewing someone who doesn’t have the capacity yet to consider all the consequences of decisions.

The show centers on the high-profile case of a 15-year-old suspect linked to a brutal parent-and-step-parents murder in Davis, California, weaving police investigations, courtroom dynamics, and family impact. Across episodes, the host probes into juvenile justice, psychopathy, and rehabilitation debates, while foregrounding firsthand perspectives from victims' families, investigators, and legal experts. It stands out for its long-form, serialized storytelling and a legal-journalist approach that aims to dissect complex motives and outcomes, rather than merely recounting the crime. Potential listeners who enjoy deep-dive true crime with prosecutorial-style interviews and emotional family elements may find it especially compelling, though som... more
