This was not one of my favorite dateline series, but not with any fault toward Josh Mankiewicz, who is one of the best storytellers in the business. My problem was that the story itself was not a mystery, but who done it was told at least down to two people in episode one. I just think this was more worthy of being Maybe a two episode at most story.
Josh Mankiewicz is a great narrator. Dateline pods like this one are interesting because they’re involved. The dramatic violins are too much, almost sensationalizing or too showy when discussing a tragedy. The sound affects are a little silly, annoying even, but I liked it.
Good story and narration, but they chose only one riff for the background, the same four chords over and over 🤣
Always love to hear diverse stories
Why stretch this typical 60 minute Dateline story into a multi episode podcast? After four episodes, I’m throwing in the towel with the full episode covering failure of a polygraph. Not worth wait or the ads for another tale of a cheating cop and a jealous lover. This genius even whispers during phone calls when he knows he’s being tape recorded. Wake up Josh, this one is nonsense. As Neil Young says, Welfare mothers make bad lovers—divorcee
