  • Very Disappointed & disgusted

As a Catholic, I’ve unfollowed your podcast. It is shocking and awful that the Catholic Church & you preach the Cardinal Virtues constantly and just stay silent when Trump 2.0 keeps grifting on ordinary citizens, flouts the rule of law, promotes revenge & retribution, disinformation & clearly emulates dangerous dictators of the world. This is hypocrisy & dangerous omissions , with possible collusion at worst. Do not stand by & let the United States of America be the fascist Germany of old. This ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Old Testament Prophecies, Pt. 4
Q: Is there any source outside the Bible that discusses the temple veil being torn at the crucifixion?
No credible non-biblical sources confirm the tearing of the temple veil; the account is presented in Matthew and is treated as a sign of the parousia within the biblical narrative.
The Catholic Church Was Founded by Jesus, Pt. 1
Q: Dear Father Spitzer, the Church teaches that God is immutable. How do we reconcile the God of the Old Testament, who seems wrathful, with the God in the New Testament, who is loving and forgiving?
God's nature is immutable, but He can reveal Himself progressively; the revelation of His love grows through history, from a more restrictive, justice-focused portrayal to a fuller, merciful understanding in Jesus, without changing who He is at base.
Magnifica Humanitas
Q: Dear Father Spitzer, how is it that God has one nature, yet Jesus who is God has two natures?
The distinction lies between nature and personhood; a single infinite divine nature underpins three self-conscious persons, so Jesus can have a divine nature yet assume a distinct personhood in the Incarnation, resulting in a human nature within the divine plan while maintaining no contradiction.
Why Do We Need a Church?, Pt. 4
Q: What are your thoughts on AI replacing the creative process?
AI can assist with research and drafting, but it cannot replicate true human creativity or the inner sense of beauty and emotional nuance that defines art and moral reasoning.
The Catholic Church Was Founded by Jesus, Pt. 2
Q: Could Adam and Eve have been born around 60,000 years ago in light of mitochondrial Eve and Y-chromosomal Adam timelines?
Mitochondrial Eve and Y-chromosomal Adam are deep genetic ancestors from about 200,000 years ago, but the soul and key human characteristics are argued to have emerged around 60,000 years ago with a transcendent, non-genetic element; thus ensouled humanity is proposed to arise later than purely genetic ancestors.
