Love love love the concept of this show, especially for women who have often since childhood believed we’ve needed to ”sit still and look pretty.” Not anymore! Great host and honest conversations.

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

294: Nervous System Regulation w/ Juliana Allen
Q: Regarding trauma and distraction as a coping mechanism, what would you suggest for someone who finds themselves chronically distracting as a way to cope?
The coping behaviors are survival-based; there is no morally 'good' or 'bad' coping, but with awareness you can sit with the feeling longer and then apply a coping skill, returning to the sensation afterward to gradually expand capacity.
294: Nervous System Regulation w/ Juliana Allen
Q: And I'll kind of kick it off with. So a lot of our audience tend to be both neurodivergent and gifted or somewhere along that spectrum, so they might have been late diagnosed or masked for many years. What's your take on recognizing how achievement may contribute to nervous system dysregulation and how to get out of that?
Juliana explains that masking and achievement pressures can disconnect people from their bodies; the goal isn't to calm the nervous system but to increase capacity to respond to stimuli and then come back to baseline, using body-awareness and regular check-ins to avoid spiraling.
292: Increasing Capacity & Reclaiming the Body with Juliana Allen
Q: What has helped you the most with harnessing the power of your own intensity?
Juliana emphasizes learning to be present with her feelings and understanding that discomfort is temporary has been crucial in harnessing her intensity.
292: Increasing Capacity & Reclaiming the Body with Juliana Allen
Q: Did you ever try to tone yourself down or tune yourself out?
Juliana shares that she absolutely tried to do both, particularly influenced by societal expectations and her experiences in ballet culture.
292: Increasing Capacity & Reclaiming the Body with Juliana Allen
Q: What does intensity look like for you?
For Juliana, being intense has been a lifelong experience, characterized by heightened sensitivity and emotional investment in others, which she initially struggled with but has come to embrace.
