  • Guests sound quality

As an ed-tech professional I really appreciate what you do and the good of though you provide. But what a torture it is sometimes to listen to your guest in terms of sound quality. Talking from AirPods, straight to the laptop mic, or whatnot, it’s hard to understand what they are saying sometimes. Maybe you could ask them to record a separate audio file to their iPhone. Even that would probably be better than AirPods

Week in Edtech 4/8/26: Anthropic’s Mythos Sparks AI Security Concerns, EdTech Efficacy Debate Intensifies, Screen Time Backlash Grows, OpenAI Faces Pressure, AI Reshapes Entry-Level Jobs, Higher Ed Adapts, and More! Feat. Yoon Yang of Pensive
Q: In the next three to five years, what kinds of things should we expect to see with AI in higher education, and how is Pensive positioned to adapt?
AI will enable new assessment formats, including oral exams and long-form projects, and allow more project-based learning. Pensive aims to deepen its grading alignment with faculty, expand across more disciplines, and help institutions adapt to an AI-native workforce while preserving human mentorship and guidance.
Week in Edtech 4/8/26: Anthropic’s Mythos Sparks AI Security Concerns, EdTech Efficacy Debate Intensifies, Screen Time Backlash Grows, OpenAI Faces Pressure, AI Reshapes Entry-Level Jobs, Higher Ed Adapts, and More! Feat. Yoon Yang of Pensive
Q: Tell us about Pensive does and how you're using these really interesting technologies to turbo charge and improve learning outcomes at universities as well as efficiency?
Pensive is an AI learning platform that helps instructors save grading time by aligning AI grading with the instructors' own rubric and style, while providing students with a course-specific AI tutor that aligns with the professor's teaching approach, thereby enabling more one-on-one guidance in large courses and enabling group tutoring sessions.
Why Graduation Is Higher Ed’s Most Overlooked Growth Lever with Chase Rigby of Tassel
Q: Why do you believe commencement holds so much untapped potential, and what are institutions currently overlooking?
Commencement is the bridge between student life and alumni status; when institutions modernize the experience—from name pronunciation and seating to announcements and post-event fundraising—they reduce friction, improve the student and family experience, and unlock powerful data for engagement and giving. Many schools have treated it as a cost center rather than a lifecycle marketing opportunity, but integrating registration, tickets, photos, and alumni data creates a coordinated, ongoing relationship with graduates.
AI Doesn’t Learn Alone: Dr. Magdalena H. Gross of Mercor on Human Intelligence
Q: For listeners who are new to the human data industry, how would you explain it and where do humans fit into training modern AI systems?
Humans provide the data-life blood of AI: they annotate, label, and interact with AI models to shape their behavior, moving from simple labeling to more sophisticated reinforcement-based learning, guided by expert feedback and domain-specific knowledge to ensure the models learn in meaningful ways.
Week in EdTech 2/25/26: FBI Raids LAUSD, Screen Time Backlash Grows, Google Trains 6M Teachers in AI, Southern States Post Gains, NationGraph Raises Funding, and More! Feat. Ariella Racco of CoLab Education
Q: What role does Ariella see for collaboration in AI-enabled education today?
She argues that collaboration infrastructure is the bottleneck; without effective professional networks and shared practices, AI tools cannot be meaningfully adopted or scaled in classrooms.
