Bob (AND Jody’s) insights are a great inspiration. The shows bring on truly knowledgeable, experienced guests who are relatable and share stories you cannot possibly find anywhere else and then break down the interviews with fascinating conclusions that really are applicable to one’s own life, especially as a creative. A brilliant show and a must listen for me. 5 STARS!

  • Very applicable

I love all the lessons and nuggets of wisdom inside these stories. I love hearing these stories of the creative feats Imagineering went through but also how they tie back and are rooted in real lessons they learned.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Kathy Mangum: A 42 Year Career of Creative Collaborations
Q: What would have been different about your career if you hadn't done it?
Mangum thinks she probably would have stayed longer in an executive role that felt less fulfilling. Returning to project work let her keep her seniority while finding work she loved more, and she says she would not change the decision.
Kathy Mangum: A 42 Year Career of Creative Collaborations
Q: How do you decide, okay, it's time for me to retire?
Mangum felt financially secure, wanted to leave while she was healthy and relevant, and recognized that she had completed 42 years. With no project opening to mark the moment, she kept moving her retirement date in three-month increments.
Joe Rohde: Pushing Creative Boundaries
Q: What's your answer that's going to come out as you do that? Because I think you're going to get it a lot. And one of the questions I think is, as they enter a different world than you and I enter, does they enter a world that is activated by AI and so many other things?
Rohde advises young artists to find collaborators and describes AI's promise as handling business and organizational tasks that limit creative work, while emphasizing that human creativity depends on unpredictable associations.
Joe Rohde: Pushing Creative Boundaries
Q: What's it mean to you when the book comes, the box arrives in the mail and you open it and here's your book?
Rohde says the book feels like a surprise because it emerged through collaboration with editor Alison Johnson and the people at National Geographic.
Ghost Dog: The Spirit That Followed Me Home
Q: What made you choose a dog as the main ghost?
Weis drew on his memories of the dogs he had loved and wanted to reflect the loyalty and lasting connection between people and their pets, including the feeling that loved ones remain connected after they die.
