I enjoy the boomer vs millennial banter, and learning that continues episode to episode. Fantastic! Thank you for your service Jim and Eric!!!

  • Lauren’s vocal style knocked off two stars

Lauren, PLEASE get voice training. The vocal fry and uptalk are enough to drive anyone insane. Other than that, it’s an enjoyable podcast.

  • Disney Deep Dives for Days!

Jim’s podcasts are occupying most of Podcast listening time these days. I enjoy them all, but the Disney Dish with Len is my favorite. I’ve seen some people complaining about Jim’s favorite sayings, but I love the charm and the history deep dives. I like getting the very niche animation news with Jim and Drew Tailor. The Disney merch show is fun, as well. Not a Universal person, but I still listen to the Universal show! Keep up the great content, Jim.

  • 5+ Stars if I could!

I have listened to all the various Jim Hill podcasts for years and laugh and learn from them. Always great info - even when listening to a podcast subject I knew nothing about. Keep up the great work!

I’d give the JHM five stars if it wasn’t for voice and vocal fry. I couldn’t make it through the Labyrinth episode. I hate how every sentence by her ends in a question mark

You’ve Got a Land in Me: Toy Story’s Theme Park Journey (Ep. 587)
Q: How did the Toy Story Land concept evolve from Paris to Shanghai in terms of design philosophy?
The design philosophy started with a simple, child-centered tone—Andy's backyard—then adapted to each market's cultural context, with Shanghai requiring a more sophisticated, hotel-integrated approach that preserved IP while ensuring accessibility for Chinese guests.
Todd Martens on Galaxy’s Edge Reimagined - Plus Muppets Take Over Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster (Ep. 585)
Q: Todd, give our listeners a background here about your Disney theme park history?
Todd shares growing up near Chicago and discovering Disneyland's history, his move to California, and how his career at the LA Times shifted toward theme parks and immersive experiences, evolving from music and entertainment to in-depth park journalism.
The Surprisingly Weird Origins of Disney Automation with Roland Betancourt (Ep. 583)
Q: Tell us a little about your history with Disney theme parks.
Betancourt discusses growing up in Florida, visiting Disney as a child, and later exploring how Disneyland and its surrounding research culture influenced his scholarly work, including his tenure at UC Irvine and the National Gallery of Art.
The Great Movie Ride, Carthay Circle, and the Cheesecake That Stole the Show (Ep. 574)
Q: Your show regarding the competition between Disney and Universal made me curious. Is there enough goodwill between the companies to allow executives to visit the new parks privately?
The hosts suggest that executives do sometimes visit rivals' parks and activities, sharing anecdotes of encounters and conferences, though they acknowledge it can be sensitive and not always publicly supported.
Villains Land Reimagined: Bigger, Bolder, and Built to Be Loved (Ep. 572)
Q: What do you think about the many updates occurring at Disney World?
The updates are reflective of management's focus on maximizing financial returns and staying competitive with Universal.
