My title for this review is also a way I like a lot of of my food, coincidentally, lol. I listen to this podcast a lot when I’m cooking or cleaning up after feeding the people that I love. I wish Mandy and Katheryn and Gideon were my neighbors… Or I had neighbours like the three of them, because they are lovely. If they lived next-door, I’m sure I would be intimidated by their fame at first… But I feel I would get over that. Because they just seem so very grounded. Until I found this podcast, my... more

  • Kathryn and Gideon are a Delightful Bonus!!!

After finally watching Homeland over the past couple months, where I’d grown very fond of Saul Berenson and didn’t want to let him go, I discovered this podcast, and it’s another Lemonada balm for my soul (Wiser, anyone?). I know Mandy isn’t Saul, but also know that Saul would not have been Saul without Mandy. Turns out I was right! Now I get to continue hearing (but not listening to) Mandy and got to discover his wife and one of his children who are each fabulous in their own right. This family... more

  • Roasting versus Baking

Roasting is done at a higher temperature than baking. Roasting is done at 400°F or higher. Baking is done at 400°F or lower. With roasting you are trying to get a caramelized, crispy exterior. Baking is about taking it from a non-solid form to a solid form. ie. like baked goods.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

What Happens to Pets After They Die?
Q: What happens to pets when they pass away, according to Danielle MacKinnon?
Danielle describes that pets' afterlife experiences are tailored to each animal's nature, so a dog's afterlife would involve woods and water if that's what the dog loved, and she emphasizes that the energy and memory of the pet persist in a form that feels true to the animal.
How AI is Scaring Hollywood
Q: What are the opportunities and safeguards you see for performers as AI becomes more prevalent in the industry?
Mikaal emphasizes balancing guardrails with optimism, suggesting AI can democratize tools while humans retain ownership of idiosyncratic performance, teaching, and live artistry; the key is to actively shape how AI is used, protect voices and likenesses, and maintain channels for authentic human storytelling.
Have You Ever Encountered a Ghost?
Q: Have you ever encountered a ghost or felt a presence in a theater or other place?”,
Stories ranged from a claimed spirit seen in a theater to a profound sense of presence surrounding a dying relative, with the family interpreting these moments as real, meaningful experiences that deepen their sense of life and memory.
Why We’re All Addicted to Our Phones
Q: Do you think it's ever okay to fake an injury to get out of a social obligation?
The hosts discuss varying levels of believability and social acceptability, suggesting honest boundaries when possible, and, if needed, a light, non-dramatic excuse; but they acknowledge ongoing social pressure and encourage choosing authentic reasons while preserving relationships.
How Do You Forgive Yourself?
Q: What are the initial feelings about the caller's struggle with forgiveness?
They acknowledge it's heartbreaking but emphasize that forgiving oneself is possible, and that progress comes from continuing to show up and trying different approaches, whether therapy, spirituality, or medication.
