    Somehow, this story captures the era from 1967 to 1971 exactly as I remember it—the funniness, the earnestness, the huge number of other really young people as the population bulge that was the Baby Boom reached adulthood, the sense that God or magic or love or sex might actually be a power more transformative than the it had ever been before.
