  • Great podcast!

I love this podcast. I am a true crime junkie, so hearing about the local stories is great, but right now listening to the Rhoden family murders…. The background music is so annoyingly distracting. I don’t think I’ll be able to finish the episode.

  • Better interviews

I’d recommend interviewing someone other than Kelly stillman he clearly doesn’t know what he’s talking about and a terrible police chief there’s a reason he’s not working for a major city anymore lol

  • Enjoying all episodes

I just have one small concern: I wish the volume you use could be louder. I have two good sets of earbuds and I am still having a hard time hearing everything on your podcasts.

Can’t wait to hear about Aliza Sherman’s murder.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Phantom Flapper
Q: Paint a picture of December 6th, 1928. Where did this happen and who was the victim?
The host and guest walk through a secluded hamlet near Canton on a cold December night, describing Vernard Fearn as a family man with a hidden social life that sparked suspicions once the murder occurred, setting the premise for the investigation and sensational press coverage.
The Phantom Flapper
Q: So how did you come across this story?
Wendy explains she sought romantic partner stories with dramatic personal dynamics, and this case's blend of public intrigue, infidelity, and a phantom suspect made it a compelling subject for the Wicked Women of Cleveland series.
They Said She Was Safe: The Murder of Amanda Dean
Q: Why did the family feel the case was not treated as a missing person from the start?
They were repeatedly told Amanda was safe, and authorities declined to file a missing-person report or share location details, leading the family to seek help from advocacy groups and demand fresh eyes on the case.
The Housewife and the Hex
Q: I brought you this story, you were unfamiliar prior, correct?
Yes, he hadn't encountered this exact Cleveland-era tale before but drew parallels to similar 1930s phenomena and the broader cultural environment around occult practices.
The Housewife and the Hex
Q: Tell me, your name is Stephen Intermill and you're the director of the Buckland Museum of Witchcraft.
Stephen confirms his role and discusses his interest in magical artifacts and the historical context of seminars and beliefs around witchcraft, offering a skeptical yet exploratory perspective.
