  • Niche and Wonderful for It

Cyclocross Radio is exactly what I want out of a podcast discussing a weird little sport. The hosts are funny, have more knowledge than me and they really make me feel like I’m developing a better understanding of CX by listening. Great stuff. (If you don’t know what cyclocross is this probably isn’t the place to start though.)

  • The Benidorm episode is pure gold

One of there very best. After those races I know they would hit it out the park, but they covered it all with added Top 5 features which was spot on

  • CX takes as Deep as the Dendermonde Mud

A show that veers wildly from topic to topic like a rider being thrown from the rut in the Zonhoven sand.

But all the better for it.

If you love cross then this is the one show you must catch every week.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 367 | Shane Ferro and the To Be Developed Cycling Grant Program
Q: Who is eligible for the grants and what are you looking for in an application?
We prefer to fund organizations or teams that already exist and can serve many people, with a focus on programs that expand access, especially for underrepresented groups in cyclocross and mountain biking, while targeting the Northeast though open to broader applications; grants range from $500 to $2,500 and require an end-of-season follow-up.
Episode 367 | Shane Ferro and the To Be Developed Cycling Grant Program
Q: Let's start with the basics—can you tell us about TBD and the intent behind the To Be Determined Cycling Grant Program?
TBD has long been involved in racing and community-building in New York City, and the grant program was created to support young racers, including juniors, U23s, and collegiate riders, by funding equipment, clinics, and development opportunities that help keep them racing and growing the sport.
Episode 363 | Joan Hanscom and the USGP (What Your Dad Goes On When He Goes On About Cyclocross ep 1)
Q: What were the key factors that allowed this national series to emerge and scale, and what ultimately happened around 2012?
It required owning the events for a uniform brand, securing wide promoter buy-in, and maintaining strong media and sponsor support. The 2012 World Championship period exposed financial vulnerabilities when a major sponsor withdrew, nearly derailing the project, but sponsorship redeployment and stakeholder effort helped avert collapse for that year, though the broader momentum could not be fully sustained afterward.
Episode 363 | Joan Hanscom and the USGP (What Your Dad Goes On When He Goes On About Cyclocross ep 1)
Q: Hi Joan, what sparked the creation of the USGP and why was head-to-head competition so important for American cyclocross?
The idea grew from a need to unite the top American riders, give them regular, meaningful competition, and offer media and sponsor value that would lift the whole sport. It wasn't enough to have scattered races; there had to be a cohesive, branded series with consistent execution to raise standards across the board.
Episode 358 | 2025 U.S. Cyclocross National Championships
Q: How did you find the course at the Nationals?
The course was praised for being a better design than previous years, utilizing the hills and features effectively to create an exciting race.
