I keep coming back to give this podcast a go but as hard as I try it fails to hit the mark.

Would I pay for these? No.

  • Loads of other (free) podcasts available

Fairly mediocre for the monthly asking price when there’s other podcasts out there interviewing the same guests and coming without a monthly fee.

  • Really enjoyable

Kickin myself not to have found this a year plus ago, as would have really helped with ‘lockdown moments’. Anyhow, just listened to intro and episode 1 - brilliant, does what it says on the tin, a fireside chat over a pint vibe. A mellow and relaxing listen, that is only bettered by actually wetting flies. Thankyou Ceri.

Casting With Ceri Jones Episode 236: Davy Wotton
Q: What similarities and differences do you see between stillwater/floating-drift fishing then and now?
Back then the stillwater scene emphasized traditional wet flies and careful observation of hatches, while today there's more emphasis on variety in gear, lines, and specialized boats; yet the core joy of the craft remains—reading water and matching the moment with the right pattern.
Casting With Ceri Jones Episode 236: Davy Wotton
Q: How did you scale from kitchen experiments to a large-scale dubbing operation?
I spent years blending materials, dialing in proportions, and then setting up a dedicated premises with multiple dyeing lines, hiring staff to cut and prepare fibers, and documenting every formula to ensure consistency across batches.
Casting With Ceri Jones Episode 236: Davy Wotton
Q: What sparked the idea to create a synthetic substitute for seal fur in fly tying?
The temporary regulations on seal fur and the desire to maintain a natural look while avoiding ethical concerns pushed me toward synthetics, which could be dyed and engineered to mimic the structure of natural seal fur.
Casting With Ceri Jones : Episode 230: Martin McCoy
Q: Where would you want to be to make your last cast?
Lough Mask, April and May, big high clouds, southwesterly winds, rolling waves, looking back at Mam Trasna, and big trout rolling over your wet place.
Casting With Ceri Jones : Episode 228: Andrew Eglon
Q: What motivated you to target catfish?
Andrew shared that it started with a small group wanting to catch catfish with flies, leading to the excitement of fishing for these big fish.
