  • My favorite Podcast

I love the Troutbitten Podcast and every contributor. Dom is a great guide and friend. I, conservatively, have listened to every one of these podcasts multiple times and have studied the Skill guides. All the episodes are great, but, you absolutely have to make sure you check out the ‘Airing of Grievances’ ones…they are the best thing on the internet when it comes to fly fishing. Seriously, this is the podcast, website and YouTube channel for people that love fly fishing for wild trout.

  • Total game changer!

The tips, tricks and lessons, heck even the banter between the guys, has been incredibly educating and has seriously upped my fishing game.

The website has been a constant resource for me, the YouTube videos solidify those lessons and the podcast gets you thinking. I’ve a long way to catch up to the most recent episodes, but I’m loving the journey to it.

Thank you guys, don’t stop what you’re doing, it really is making a difference.

Learning From Other Species and Other Styles
Q: What makes a thousand-dollar rod more advanced than a cheaper one?
The group discusses that higher-end rods often recover faster, reducing wobble and improving timing and accuracy, but the true benefit comes from how the angler uses the rod; a more expensive rod is not automatically better, and skill matters more than price.
Burnout
Q: What's the difference between lessons and hosted trips, and what should an intermediate angler look for in a guide?
Guides can offer focused skill instruction (lessons) or a hosted trip where you fish with others and learn as a group. The best fit depends on your learning goals: if you want one-on-one skill development, seek a guide who specializes in that skill; if you're after experience and social dynamics, a hosted trip might be right. Communicate your goals clearly and research references before booking.
What About Luck?
Q: How do you decide when to place value on what a bank walker tells you?
Most of the time, you weigh nonverbal cues and the context, listen sparingly, and prefer your own analysis to avoid overreacting to casual reports.
Dry Fly Platforms - Hoppers, Stones and Foams - The Troutbitten Fly Box
Q: From Elias's email: do you have a Troutbitten West and is Matt Grobe the captain?
The hosts acknowledge the question humorously and suggest that, while a Troutbitten West is a possibility, the focus remains on sharing resources and connecting listeners with trusted guides; the idea of leadership roles is discussed in a light, aspirational way.
Dry Fly Platforms - Comparaduns - The Troutbitten Fly Box
Q: How did you find such a fantastic group of fishermen?
Domenick shares that he has grown sentimental about the fishing trips he has had with his group of fishermen, appreciating the photos and memories gathered over time.
