  • Great fly fishing banter

Love listening to these two banter about fishing pit Wedt and in Michigan. And Kelly digress into other interesting topics and rants. My only nit is the recording level - it can be really hard to hear them at times.

  • Amazing Audio

You guys sure make it seem hard to get good audio on a podcast. Also, how many flies do I need to buy from you guys so you can afford a new chair? My buddy and I have a weekly bet going about what the first sound of the podcast will be. I always bet “Chair”, and I am doing very well! 😉

We've Got Sponsors + Snap Swivels?
Q: What are your thoughts on using a snap swivel attachment to a streamer to make it easier to quickly switch flies?
Kelly discusses his experience with snap swivels, noting he finds them useful but prefers not to use them due to the need for quick leader changes.
Raft vs. Drift Boat
Q: How do you continue to judge your progression as an angler when you're willing to forsake numbers for larger fish?
You can measure your progression through casting accuracy, refining your retrieve methods, and understanding the mental aspects of fishing.
Raft vs. Drift Boat
Q: What would you recommend for an angler looking to get their first boat, Raft versus Drift Boat?
A raft is excellent for bouncing off obstacles and is often more forgiving, but drift boats offer better storage and comfort.
How to Recognize Bugs While On The River
Q: What might drive a fish to behave like that when it bursts its head through the surface and proceeds to speedboat with only its head out of the water?
Kelly suggests that few things could out swim a fish, indicating this behavior may relate to the fish trying to escape something threatening, possibly a predator or parasite, but admits he does not have a definitive answer for that behavior.
How to Recognize Bugs While On The River
Q: If you think there's any merit here, I'd love to hear Kelly speak on how he identifies hatches while on the river. Is it just knowing which bugs come out at certain times of the year?
Kelly explains that identifying hatches is largely based on historical data and knowing that certain bugs hatch at specific times. He emphasizes the importance of observing the river conditions and understanding the seasonal hatches.
