  • Brutal listen

I love Jimmy The Kat in like 30-60 second increments like we get on the game broadcasts. But as a half hour or hour podcast host, no thank you. This pod is about as much fun as watching paint dry, zero personality. I know Katie is with the west coast evil empire now, but bring Bernie back along with a bigger personality for a host and I’d be way more willing to tune in more consistently. Until that happens it’s a hard pass for me dawg. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Joshua Báez slowing down, Burly and Leahy SHINING, Cards rolling
Q: What was the moment you realized you needed to adjust at the major league level, and what did you change about your preparation?
I leaned on my hitting coaches, altered my routine, and focused on attacking the middle of the plate more consistently. It involved physical adjustments, better sleep, nutrition, and a disciplined routine that kept me durable and productive.
Joshua Báez slowing down, Burly and Leahy SHINING, Cards rolling
Q: So tell me, first of all, the pressure of a young guy. When you came up, there was a lot of hubbub about, this guy brings in a power bat, we need the power bat, and then you got to deliver.
The key is learning to breathe, adjust pitch by pitch, and trust your coaching while staying true to your swing. Early success can create expectations, but sustained adjustments and confidence are crucial for long-term success at the big league level.
Cards CRUSHED by O's, Liberatore struggles again, Masyn Winn to IL
Q: How does the Winn injury affect the Cardinals' defensive capabilities and lineup?
Winn's elite defense and range at shortstop are a cornerstone for the defense, and his absence likely shifts defensive alignment and leadership; the team will rely on Weatherholt and others to fill gaps while Winn recovers, hoping the offense and defense can compensate until he returns.
Cards CRUSHED by O's, Liberatore struggles again, Masyn Winn to IL
Q: What's going on with the rotation and Libby's role going forward?
Libby has shown both flashes of effectiveness and moments where he's unable to sustain success, but the team needs him to take the ball every fifth day and eat innings while others in the rotation develop consistency; the organization remains committed to giving him chances rather than moving him to the bullpen.
Still waiting on Joshua Báez, Libby bullpen move coming soon? Nolan Gorman & Victor Scott II future
Q: How would you go about this, Brenden?
Brenden explains that the Cardinals may hesitate to rush Báez up due to arbitration thresholds and the need to see how he adjusts to big-league pitching, but also notes the potential value of a late-season promotion to provide experience without harming development. He emphasizes the possibility of a September call-up to showcase his abilities while managing expectations about long-term impact.
