  • Wheeler 😑

Really enjoy reading and listening to Derrick. However I struggle with Kevin Wheeler who seems to just want to argue and disagree on everything. Hard to listen to him

Maybe have some guests that are less argumentative and want to have constructive dialogue

  • Great

Only problem is the frequency or lack of frequency. It would be nice if this was a weekly show that dropped on a certain day each week. At least during the Regular Season.

  • Great podcast

This has been an outstanding podcast since the beginning Bernie and Derrick days.

I think Kevin Wheeler’s appearances need to change or be dropped. I don’t want an hour of “arrogant sports talk radio guy” yelling at me. I listen to this podcast for the opposite of that.

It gets really awkward when they argue and there’s just no need for it. Disagreements, no worries. But those episodes really stand out as different in a poor way, and usually it just results in a “Mark as Played” without listen... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The seams that bind St. Louis baseball and the history of the game itself: A Glove Story
Q: What drew you to write about 50 iconic gloves?
We aimed to cover a wide arc from the 1880s to today, balancing famous moments with the actual glove models that defined eras, and to show how gloves reflect broader changes in baseball.
Tarps off! BPIB is back on: Have Cardinals found their voice as a contender?
Q: Is Jordan Walker-level production sustainable, and what about the rest of the lineup?
Walker has produced at an elite level this early in the season, providing a big lift that anchors the lineup. The rest of the offense needs to continue contributing, with additional pop from other young players and veteran leaders stabilizing the group to keep the lineup balanced.
Tarps off! BPIB is back on: Have Cardinals found their voice as a contender?
Q: What has staying power for the Cardinals over the next weeks?
Staying power will likely hinge on sustained defense, continued strong top-of-the-order production, and a willingness to take calculated risks on the bases. If pitching normalizes and offense remains competitive, the energy around the team will persist; otherwise, enthusiasm could wane.
Should Cardinals' fast start to 2026 accelerate their long-range rebuild plans?
Q: What would be an adequate acknowledgment from the front office if the team continues to perform above expectations?
The hosts discuss the possibility of the front office signaling a 2027-focused plan, potentially leveraging the deadline to acquire assets that help the long-term rebuild rather than creating a false sense of contending in 2026.
Should Cardinals' fast start to 2026 accelerate their long-range rebuild plans?
Q: How buoyant should Cardinal fans feel about the start and is it sustainable?
Brandon argues excitement is warranted but cautions that the current performance is unlikely to be a sustainable playoff contending level; he stresses the need for continued execution, development, and proper pacing of expectations.
