This is a great niche podcast for anyone who is interested in learning about the history of Ancient Rome after the fall of the western empire. I love this period of history. Byzantium is often unrecognized as an important early part of medieval times.
Although I feel like the narrative is to rapidly voiced, I believe it’s because he wanted to keep each episode under thirty minutes.
Well worth the listen.
The host seems to fully know his history about the events mentioned and talked over in the podcast. Each podcast is riveting to listen to even if the first few are him reading his book. His reading of the book shows incredible expressions and reflection in his voice and you can tell he is passionate about what he has written and is talking over in the podcasts. This is what started me listening to podcasts, and still the best I’ve listened to on any subject.
This is a very well done podcast: clear, straightforward and comprehensive. The narrator is insightful in his opening remarks for each episode, and he does an outstanding job of reading the text he has chosen in a way that feels natural and conversational.
Really enjoyed this podcast. Very informative and well put together. I listened to the entire series on every journey to and from work for the last several days.
