Reviews

4.1 out of 5 stars from 12 ratings
  • Pretty good

Great information, but I wish the host was more engaging and better prepared for his interviewees. The interviewer doesn’t seem to be genuinely interested in what they have to say, questions are cookie cutter and at times, just boring. The saving grace are the guest speakers!!!

  • Needs refining

Poor audio - interviewer needs a mic. Poor editing as well. Some questions are candid and don’t match with the person that is being interviewed.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Interview: Chris Duininck, president, Duininck Inc.
Q: What are the biggest challenges and opportunities in your segment right now?
An aging workforce and the need to attract younger talent, along with securing a steady stream of highway and infrastructure work to fund equipment and training, are the main challenges and opportunities for maintaining growth.
Interview: Chris Duininck, president, Duininck Inc.
Q: What types of projects are you working on now?
The focus is on state and local infrastructure work, including Minnesota Department of Transportation projects, with significant asphalt paving, underground utilities, and water/sewer rehabilitation in towns like Wilmer, Minnesota.
Interview: Matt Anfang, executive director, MNCAR
Q: What's driving your decision to retire from MnCAR, and what does the transition look like?
I've been noodling on retirement for a while, driven by personal goals and a belief that the industry will evolve with AI and new leadership. We've formed a search committee, will engage a search firm to vet candidates, keep the process open through August, and aim to introduce the new executive to members at the Real Estate Expo in November, with possibilities for an advisory role if helpful.
Interview: Matt Anfang, executive director, MNCAR
Q: Could you tell us a little more about MnCAR and its mission, and how long you've been in this role?
MnCAR evolved from a committee of the Minneapolis Association of Realtors into its own organization affiliated with the National Association of Realtors, driven by data for landlords and owners, with online access to up-to-date information that supports the industry. The role has been about 14-15 years, and I've seen the organization grow alongside technology and data initiatives.
Interview: Tia Jacobs, developer, Sherman Associates
Q: Can you describe a few projects you've worked on and what you learned from them?
Duluth Armory's historic conversion and the Landmark Building in St. Paul were pivotal; they taught me about regulatory navigation, coordination with architects and contractors, and the importance of transitioning construction projects smoothly to property management.
