  • New to Contracting—Already Winning!

Elise is incredibly helpful. I started my contracting journey through a third-party contracting company last year. Then, I don’t know how, must’ve been a “God thing,” but Elise’s program and Facebook page fell into my world, and I fell in love with the idea of contracting myself. Fast forward less than a year, and I have my own business and have hired my first contractor. I listen to this podcast and look forward to it each time it’s dropped. It supports what she offers in her FB group and progr... more

This pod is honest and refreshingly practical. Whether you’re an SLP, OT, or any clinician navigating private practice attempting to out maneuver the big agencies, this show delivers real-world insight with zero fluff. Elise does a great job discussing everything from ethical dilemmas to business strategy, and does it with heart. I walk away from every episode feeling empowered and ready to take action. Highly recommend for any provider ready to cut out the middle man.

Start with small, deliberate steps and prioritize core boundaries; avoid rushing into contracts that compromise your values, and trust that the right opportunities will come with time.
Behind the Scenes with Braxy Speech: Real Talk from a School Contracting Pro
Q: Do you have any advice about starting young in this field?
Being a recent graduate or young professional doesn't disqualify you; start, learn, and adapt—experience and success come from taking action and building gradually rather than waiting for perfect conditions.
Behind the Scenes with Braxy Speech: Real Talk from a School Contracting Pro
Q: How do you approach the balance between private practice and school contracting, especially when moving to a new state?
Contracting with schools can be more reliable and passive over time, but it comes with state-specific rules; diversifying with private practice in areas where licensed can be a strategic hedge while focusing primarily on the scalable school contracts in your current state.
Behind the Scenes with Braxy Speech: Real Talk from a School Contracting Pro
Q: What was a challenge you didn't expect when building Braxy, and what's a key lesson?
The rapid growth required a strong financial cushion and good contracts from the outset; before you hire staff, ensure there is money in the pipeline and you have solid legal protections to avoid costly disputes.
Behind the Scenes with Braxy Speech: Real Talk from a School Contracting Pro
Q: What would you tell someone who's listening to this and maybe has nerves about contracting, or imposter syndrome?
If you truly want financial stability and freedom, go for it; you don't need perfect knowledge from the start—you'll figure it out as you go, and there are options to start small with a provider-owned model like Braxy without jumping into big contracts immediately.
