The takes are fine, mostly things I have already heard or read from other STL or national media, but that’s ok. The show is just very, very bro-y. Way too many references to “having balls” for my taste, and way to much talk about betting lines. Audio quality has improved since they started but I still wouldn’t call it “good.” I listen when I have time, but Ball Watching is maybe the third or fourth best STL City podcast.
The guys are Ok, they are clearly being paid to be non critical and to be super optimistic and encourage everyone to buy season tickets, they used to be a little more objective but this last episode was laughable, they are clearly a front office plant as they talked for 10 minutes about how they loved the new Tina Turner kit. It’s a joke at this point
I listened to Ball Watching regularly throughout 2024, but in 2025, there seems to be some kind of an issue with their feed on Apple Podcasts. I don’t have this issue with any of my other podcasts, but when I attempt to play the latest episode, it always comes back telling me “This episode can’t play on this device”. If they’ve launched a subscription to view the latest episode on Apple Podcasts, that hasn’t been clear to me, but otherwise it doesn’t seem to be an issue on my end.
The most recent podcast had them live pitching product for close to 10 minutes in a 50 min episode. They are much more excited and animated when selling than discussing the team. Takes are basic and reaction based. An average sport gambling bros podcast. A poor STL City podcast.
Good content but Jake, please upgrade your mic/interface, the popping is quickly becoming unbearable

A fan-centric show focused on St. Louis CITY SC, blending in-depth match analysis with community and club-wide context. Episodes typically cover game-by-game breakdowns, tactical takeaways, lineup discussions, and stay-attuned to non-sporting aspects like community initiatives and administrative moves. The hosts frequently weave in data-driven angles, betting-related segments, and sponsor reads, creating a lively, offbeat mix that appeals to devoted CITY SC supporters who enjoy banter and long-form conversations about the team and its ecosystem. A standout is the integration of tactical critique with fan culture, plus recurring guests and cross-over segments that broaden the lens beyond the pitch. This combination—enthusiastic hosts, practi... more
