  • Frustrating amount of negativity

I am no fan of Pashinyan either, but at times Hovik seems too willing to repeat questionable claims, including what sound like Kremlin-style talking points, simply to reinforce the idea that nothing good can happen in Armenia while Pashinyan is in power. No, I do not think he is on anyone’s payroll, and I understand the disillusionment after everything that has happened over the last eight years. I also strongly hope Pashinyan loses, I hate him. But the negativity can become so excessive that it... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Philippe Raffi Kalfayan - IODA's Second Mission and Armenia's Dire Election Climate | Ep 554, Jun 4, 2026
Q: From your observations, can the Armenian elections be described as free and fair at this point?
The guest responds that purity of fairness is unlikely given arrests, intimidation, and state influence, but notes that the final characterization will depend on post-election developments and what measures are implemented to support or suppress opposition; overall, he cautions that calling it fully fair now would be premature.
Spotlight on Silence: Selective Justice in Armenia’s Election Campaign | Ep 555, Jun 6, 2026
Q: Can you tell us more about Articles 329 and 330 and how they are being applied?
They criminalize incitement to hatred and public calls for violence, but in practice are being invoked in selective, politically charged ways that protect officials rather than vulnerable groups, leading to a systemic misapplication of the hate speech framework.
Mikael Darbinian - Armenia’s Borders, TRIPP, and the Price of Weakness | Ep 540, May 6, 2026
Q: What is the diaspora's role in Armenia's national potential and security strategy?
Diaspora communities bring fresh perspectives, innovation, and networks that can enrich policy, diplomacy, and economic development. Engaging them broadens Armenia's diplomatic reach and fosters innovative approaches in marketing, economy, and technology.
Mikael Darbinian - Armenia’s Borders, TRIPP, and the Price of Weakness | Ep 540, May 6, 2026
Q: What distinguishes TRIPP from other regional connectivity ideas, and how does Strong Armenia view its implementation with security guarantees?
TRIPP, as envisioned, aims to create regional interconnectivity while ensuring security guarantees negotiated into the framework. It's not just about opening borders; it's about balancing interests with major powers and embedding deterrence through alliances, diplomacy, and diversified security partners.
Mikael Darbinian - Armenia’s Borders, TRIPP, and the Price of Weakness | Ep 540, May 6, 2026
Q: Can you tell us more about your role in the Strong Armenia security team and how your background informs that work?
I am an independent security advisor, focusing on formulating a comprehensive security concept that covers deterrence, energy and infrastructure resilience, and risk analysis. My OSINT and diplomatic experience shape a multi-layered approach that blends foreign policy with practical, on-the-ground risk planning.
