  • Agree with previous review BBC mark2

Enjoyable but biased ,as most news.

Belittling student and municipal actions was petty.

    Another BBC.

  • Andrew is tiresome and self-indulgent

Between his desperate attempts to sound like Alan Partridge on the weekly “what we learned” monologues, and his verbose, exhausting speeches that overwhelm any of his interview subjects, this is another Monocle podcast I can’t listen to unless I’m trying to torture myself. With so many great hosts, like Fernando, Emma and Georgina, why do listeners have to put up with this bloated, boring sideshow?

  • Smug and Boring

I listened to this for 15 minutes but that was all I could take. The number one thing that makes podcasting interesting and informative is when the broadcaster tries to see all sides of issues and has a sense of nuance. This show and the hosts are boring, self-referential, narcissistic, and smug, unfortunately typical for modern “progressives”. It could pass for satire it’s so bad.

  • Just an idea

    Dear Monocole Radio,

Really listen you gladly and always awaiting for a good news your provide us.

Lately we have been listening a lot about ongoing Ukraine war, a fresh conflict in Israel, and Africa as well.

I wanted to ask you if you could possibly touch a bit on a subject of a lack of weapons in Europe in general, as we all know very well how Ukraine war has been draining Europe supplies, how what they monthly use Germany needs a few years to produce the same. How is Europe tackling the is... more

Is the Iran war exposing the limits of US dominance in the Middle East?
Q: How does the Albania/Middle East comparison illuminate current policy debates?
The Albania case is presented as a cautionary tale about how covert action can become a momentum-driven project with unintended consequences, offering historical lessons on how to assess risks, exit strategies, and the limits of external power when attempting regime change.
Is the Iran war exposing the limits of US dominance in the Middle East?
Q: What does the panel think about the idea that the US is withdrawing or diminishing its role in the Middle East?
The panel suggests that several regional players are moving to fill gaps left by the US, with defense pacts among Gulf states and others signaling a move toward more autonomous regional security arrangements, while Washington's long-term willingness and ability to project influence are increasingly questioned.
How Oman has turned mediation into part of its foreign-policy identity
Q: Why is Oman positioned to act as a mediator in the Strait of Hormuz?
Because its geographic location and longstanding neutrality give it credibility as a trusted intermediary that could coordinate access and reduce escalation among Iran and other regional players.
Andy Burnham takes charge in the UK – but does changing leaders midterm ever work?
Q: Alex, is Burnham's image difference likely to translate into meaningful policy change, or will his tenure feel similar to his predecessor's in terms of room for maneuver?
There is optimism about a different, more effective communication style, but concerns persist about policy trade-offs and the constraints of the political economy that could limit transformative change.
Andy Burnham takes charge in the UK – but does changing leaders midterm ever work?
Q: Alex, first of all, were you wearing your blue and white stripes and shouting Viva Argentina at the screen, or not so much?
No, I was supporting France, having just been in France, and my stance shifted to Spain as the game progressed, illustrating how quickly opinions in light-hearted moments can pivot.
