Enjoyable but biased ,as most news.

Belittling student and municipal actions was petty.

  • Andrew is tiresome and self-indulgent

Between his desperate attempts to sound like Alan Partridge on the weekly “what we learned” monologues, and his verbose, exhausting speeches that overwhelm any of his interview subjects, this is another Monocle podcast I can’t listen to unless I’m trying to torture myself. With so many great hosts, like Fernando, Emma and Georgina, why do listeners have to put up with this bloated, boring sideshow?

  • Smug and Boring

I listened to this for 15 minutes but that was all I could take. The number one thing that makes podcasting interesting and informative is when the broadcaster tries to see all sides of issues and has a sense of nuance. This show and the hosts are boring, self-referential, narcissistic, and smug, unfortunately typical for modern “progressives”. It could pass for satire it’s so bad.

  • Just an idea

    Dear Monocole Radio,

Really listen you gladly and always awaiting for a good news your provide us.

Lately we have been listening a lot about ongoing Ukraine war, a fresh conflict in Israel, and Africa as well.

I wanted to ask you if you could possibly touch a bit on a subject of a lack of weapons in Europe in general, as we all know very well how Ukraine war has been draining Europe supplies, how what they monthly use Germany needs a few years to produce the same. How is Europe tackling the is... more

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Decoding the Venice Biennale
Q: What was the press conference statement from the Biennale president about dialogue and autonomy?
The president framed the Biennale as a garden of peace that prioritizes dialogue over paperwork, emphasizing autonomy and boldness while avoiding definitive resolutions to geopolitical tensions.
Remembering Ted Turner and one year of Friedrich Merz
Q: Quentin, what's your take on the acceleration of 24-hour news and its impact on how stories are told?
24-hour news democratized access to events but also pushed journalists toward commentary and faster turnover, which can dilute nuance and challenge traditional reporting standards.
Remembering Ted Turner and one year of Friedrich Merz
Q: Armida, first time on The Monocle Daily, how does your background inform your read on today's big stories?
I bring a European policy and security perspective, focusing on how political decisions and institutional structures shape international responses, especially in the EU and NATO contexts.
Israel strikes Beirut despite new ceasefire. Will it jeopardise a wider peace deal?
Q: Is there any realistic expectation that Lebanon can enforce a Hezbollah disarmament without external mediation?
Yossi believes that without a credible external mediator and significant shifts within the Lebanese government, disarmament remains unlikely, as Hezbollah's power and Iranian influence complicate any internal attempt at enforcement.
Israel strikes Beirut despite new ceasefire. Will it jeopardise a wider peace deal?
Q: Julie, do Israel and the United States consider the Beirut strikes a calculated test of the ceasefire by Tehran's allies?
Julie suggests that while Israel frames strikes as necessary for security, they are also part of a broader strategic calculus tied to timing ahead of any larger diplomatic deal, with the U.S. trying to manage expectations while avoiding a broader confrontation.
