Enjoyable but biased ,as most news.

Belittling student and municipal actions was petty.

    Another BBC.

  • Andrew is tiresome and self-indulgent

Between his desperate attempts to sound like Alan Partridge on the weekly “what we learned” monologues, and his verbose, exhausting speeches that overwhelm any of his interview subjects, this is another Monocle podcast I can’t listen to unless I’m trying to torture myself. With so many great hosts, like Fernando, Emma and Georgina, why do listeners have to put up with this bloated, boring sideshow?

  • Smug and Boring

I listened to this for 15 minutes but that was all I could take. The number one thing that makes podcasting interesting and informative is when the broadcaster tries to see all sides of issues and has a sense of nuance. This show and the hosts are boring, self-referential, narcissistic, and smug, unfortunately typical for modern “progressives”. It could pass for satire it’s so bad.

  • Just an idea

    Dear Monocole Radio,

Really listen you gladly and always awaiting for a good news your provide us.

Lately we have been listening a lot about ongoing Ukraine war, a fresh conflict in Israel, and Africa as well.

I wanted to ask you if you could possibly touch a bit on a subject of a lack of weapons in Europe in general, as we all know very well how Ukraine war has been draining Europe supplies, how what they monthly use Germany needs a few years to produce the same. How is Europe tackling the is... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Iran vows to keep blocking Strait of Hormuz as three more cargo ships are attacked in the Gulf
Q: Charles, first of all, to the Strait of Hormuz, and thinking with your business and risk analyst hat on, if that's gummed up for days, weeks or months, that potentially gets quite bad, doesn't it?
Yes, it would heighten energy prices and stress shipping and insurance markets, underscoring how quickly geopolitical risk translates into financial risk for global commerce.
Mark Carney in London to strategise Western response to Iran and Trump’s demands for help
Q: Rainbow, first of all, how excited are you to see indications that France is poised to elect a fascist-adjacent president?
Rainbow expresses cautious skepticism about the near-term certainty of a far-right victory, noting the persistent anti-far-right bloc and the importance of local dynamics and party fragmentation.
With promises of a short war, how likely is a quick collapse or popular uprising in Iran?
Q: Tina, you and your co-hosts have just returned from York and are discussing your new book—how does that personal journey influence your view of geopolitical risk and leadership in crisis moments?
The York trip reflects how research and lived experience feed a broader framework: leaders often misread evolving threats, and the best responses mix cautious strategy with a keen understanding of how narratives shape public reaction and investor sentiment.
Europe’s response to US and Israeli strikes on Iran
Q: Does this suggest that the markets don't really think this is going to last?
The markets appear to be holding their breath, indicating uncertainty about the duration of the conflict, but showing some resilience in the price of oil and gas.
Europe’s response to US and Israeli strikes on Iran
Q: Would there be much in the way of public support for yet another large scale ground invasion of Lebanon by Israel?
Public sentiment is mixed; while people feel the need for security, there is significant fatigue regarding prolonged conflict and casualties.
