I was introduced to Selena’s music on a trip to Mexico. I saw a music video and thought she was amazing. Who is this girl? I discovered we were about the same age and her music made me want to dance. I didn’t know about her struggles until after she passed, but her spirit and presence spoke to me. For a working class white girl from New England she was this exotic creature. So talented, so beautiful, so free! I admired her. It didn’t matter what her heritage was to me, she was miraculous.... more
