  • Informative but too political

They do a good job keeping me up to date with current issues in the industry, but I don’t need to have the host’s political views pushed on me with snide comments & blatant bias every show.

  • Good info but too obviously political

This could be a really great show with the wealth of knowledge and experience John has. However he can’t seem to separate himself from his obviously leftist ideologies and interject passive aggressive comments towards the other political party or opposing thoughts. I’m hear to learn about AML and better my knowledge, I don’t need your beliefs or agenda being pushed. Keep those to yourself. Real shame.

Unpacking the AML/CFT Program Rule: Key Changes and Industry Implications
Q: But like you said, you should be focusing on higher risk issues anyway, but what does that mean for overall risk? Or is it all based on how the risk assessment categorizes everything?
The emphasis is on tying the program to your internal risk assessment; if your risk assessment is accurate and your implementation follows it, you should be in good standing, and enforcement actions should be limited to cases of significant or systemic failure in implementation.
Monthly chat with Sarah Beth Felix
Q: How should financial institutions respond to Treasury risk assessments and FATF evaluations?
Institutions should adopt a true risk-based framework that includes thorough threats and vulnerabilities analysis, remain vigilant about ongoing regulatory updates, and leverage tools like AI cautiously to digest complex information. Regulators will expect a reasonably designed AML program and alignment with both Finra and SEC expectations, with a focus on staying prepared for upcoming evaluations.
Monthly chat with Sarah Beth Felix
Q: What were the major themes in March from your perspective?
Sarah Beth highlights how banks of all sizes are becoming more creative in detecting financial crime, and stresses that sanctions are now a dynamic, ongoing process rather than a simple name-matching exercise. She also emphasizes the importance of a robust threat-and-vulnerability approach to risk, rather than mere paperwork, and notes that regulatory updates happen frequently, requiring ongoing attention from institutions.
The AI Promise vs The Reality - What's Your Backup Plan?
Q: What should organizations consider when planning an AI rollout in AML compliance?
Start with the use case, ensure data readiness, set realistic timelines, and have a contingency plan if delivery slips; want to avoid a scenario where regulatory deadlines are missed.
The AI Promise vs The Reality - What's Your Backup Plan?
Q: What are the conversations you're having with banks about AI being a threat to jobs or a tool to replace staff?
Mark explains that while AI can augment analysts and reduce toil, it is unlikely to replace entire teams in the near term; the focus is on smarter, faster investigations and better handling of high volumes and false positives.
