  • UPDATE WEBSITE SOONER

These guys have excellent analysis, excellent statistics, excellent blog posts but fail to update the statistics on their website in a timely manner after games. Other stat-based sites for various sports have their stats updated within a day or 2 after any given game. ASA takes several days and sometimes does not have previous games’ stats posted prior to new games being played several days later. Otherwise, there’s no better MLS analysis out there.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

EXPECTED OWN GOALS: NWSL Season Preview Week — Utah Royals, with Catalina Bush
Q: All right, Kat, starting off with the softball. Tell us the history of the Utah Royals.
Catalina gives a concise history of the franchise's ups and downs, noting long-standing underperformance and the sense that despite some positive moves, the team has struggled to establish a stable, high-performing identity.
EXPECTED OWN GOALS: NWSL Season Preview Week — Portland Thorns, with Phuoc Nguyen of Stumptown Footy
Q: What is keeping you up at night about this team as a coach going into the season?
The biggest concern is the back line and whether they can stay healthy and keep up with modern attacking threats, along with whether the young players can step up quickly enough to support the star forwards.
EXPECTED OWN GOALS: NWSL Season Preview Week — Washington Spirit, with Riss Willett of Shea Butter FC
Q: Please tell us the story of the 2025 Washington Spirit.
The 2025 season was a roller coaster with a mid-season coaching transition and several injuries, ending in a league final loss but setting the stage for a reshaped 2026 roster led by new leadership and surprising returns like Trinity Rodman.
EXPECTED OWN GOALS: NWSL Season Preview Week — Racing Louisville, with Bekki Morgan of Butchertown Rundown
Q: What's your read on the attack this year for Racing Louisville, especially with Kirsten Wright's retirement and Bethany Boss leaving?
The attack will rely more on Kayla Fischer to drive the forward line and on Emma Sears to contribute, with Maya Lardner and Macy Hodge stepping up as young players who can develop into core pieces. The team will need to balance Sears' involvement with others to avoid over-reliance on a single focal point, aiming for a more distributed scoring threat.
EXPECTED OWN GOALS: NWSL Season Preview Week — Orlando Pride, with Abigail Segel of Defector
Q: Based on 2025, where do you think Orlando Pride will finish in the 2026 regular season?
The hosts and Abigail believe they'll be in the top half of the playoff-contending teams, with a cautious view due to backline uncertainties but confidence in the club's culture and past winning mentality.
