Love Scuffed. Love Boots on the Ground. You want real tactical breakdowns and critical assessments of the USWNT, this is your spot. No fanboy and fangirl-ing here. Also have excellent insight into upcoming talent.
Only one criticism: the overall volume level of the recording. Even at full volume I can’t often hear it on my headphones on the train or on a busy city street. Doesn’t seem to be a problem with men’s Scuffed.
I thought I was cynical! These two are as bad as the boys. At least get another woman who knows something on the pod who isn’t so very smug. Don’t take my advice I’m not listening anymore anyway. US soccer podcast of course. What did I expect. US soccer has done one thing right in its entire history: hire Emma Hayes.
This show is a must listen for any USWNT fans. Other shows I listen to are too enmeshed with the players, especially the older players. They've often played with them and know them personally. This biases their takes and leads to them holding back their true opinions. Not Tara and Vince. They call it like they see it (kindly and respectfully). This show centers on USWNT players and the wider player pool, blending tactical breakdowns, roster speculation, and club-to-international performance analysis. Episodes frequently dissect lineup decisions, player development, and emerging talents across the USWNT, NWSL, and college soccer, with a knack for accessible, data-informed discussions and lighthearted banter. A notable edge is the willingness to challenge narratives, spotlight lesser-known prospects, and connect domestic league form to national-team rosters, making it a strong resource for fans, sponsors, and potential guests who want informed, craftful soccer dialogue.
What stands out is the chemistry between hosts, a consistent focus on youth and depth charts, and regular guests... more
