  • S1E1's audio is horrible. I could not understand the caller. The host came in fine but the caller was too pixilated. I wish I could hear what he had to say. I know it's episode 1, so I hope it gets better

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Artificial Intelligence and Stigma in Addiction Research: Insights From the HEALing Communities Study Coalition Meetings
Q: What are the advantages of AI-assisted methods in research, especially in qualitative and community-engaged work?
AI helps manage large data sets, speeds up analysis, allows real-time responsiveness during implementation, and should be used with humans in the loop to maintain context and ethical oversight.
Artificial Intelligence and Stigma in Addiction Research: Insights From the HEALing Communities Study Coalition Meetings
Q: Tell me why you chose addiction medicine and what drew you to the field.
She was motivated by structural drivers like stigma and poverty, addiction as a global public health issue, and a commitment to community voice and co-design in interventions.
Characterization of a Young Adult Sample Accessing Buprenorphine Via Telehealth in Philadelphia, PA
Q: What recommendations might be useful to clinicians irrespective of their locale?
Clinicians should embrace low-barrier care, involve peers in program design, and build partnerships to replicate scalable, humane models that meet patients where they are, ensuring rapid access and reducing unnecessary barriers to treatment.
Characterization of a Young Adult Sample Accessing Buprenorphine Via Telehealth in Philadelphia, PA
Q: Are there any new challenges that you identified that you might like to study further or that might need to be addressed in the future?
Future work should examine characteristics linked to lower retention, such as combinations of younger age and Black race or lack of insurance, and explore confidentiality concerns and administrative barriers, with an emphasis on advocating for broader structural supports to sustain access.
Characterization of a Young Adult Sample Accessing Buprenorphine Via Telehealth in Philadelphia, PA
Q: Does this type of program help to fill some of the gaps, and how do you interpret these findings?
The findings are promising: flexible, peer-driven, low-barrier models can reduce age-related gaps in access and retention. The model's relatability and ease of access appear to move care closer to patients where they are, potentially diminishing disparities over time.
