I haven't checked if a rare new one has appeared lately- I limit my consumption rate so I don't use them up too fast. It's nice to hear a fresh voice in science fiction with humor- not horror.
DJ- have you considered a serial?
The written voice and listening is so good, it should be on BBC radio 4. Its also good for family listening as it is not sexually explicit, violent or sweary - a real strength test for content that it does not need these things.
Some really good new ideas and stories. Wonderful podcast.
I will admit to being a little skeptical, oh yeah another writer that wants to podcast ho hum. Thing is, this guy really is a good writer. Plus, the recording production company & voice actors are really & truly broadcast quality. I'm a long haul trucker in the U.S. & Mr. Burnham has helped me stay awake through 35 states. 'Cmon D.J., I got more loads to deliver, how am I gonna be on time without more stories to listen to?
Would have to say this show gets better with each new epsiode..Keep them coming as I love them all...
Wow! Each episode's better than the last. Next stop Radio 4?
I thought this podcast was excellent. I thought I was the only one that caught the term "misunderestimated" but I guess I was wrong. Thank you for also catching such a horrible misuse of the English language. Please keep up the great writing and keep supplying us with more and more excellent fiction.
Fantastic stuff. I've realy been gripped by the stories so far, great ideas and also with a very welcome slice of humour. Can't wait for the next episode. More soon please Mr B.
DJ Burnham's podcast is brimming with fresh ideas, enthusiasm and fun. Already a prolific and accomplished author of short stories in a "classic" SF style (analogies to modern life, commentary on the human condition, that sort of thing), Mr Burnham shows himself to be a very capable narrator. His use of atmospheric music and sound effects really help you get absorbed into the story and its setting, and the introduction of guest voice actors in episode 2 has really taken the production onto anoth... more
Ad Astral is the latest brainchild of science fiction scribe David Burnham who has been recording podcast performances of his celebrated sci-fi stories in a spaceship hovering somewhere in the clouds above Brighton. He has engaged some of the city's finest actors, voicesmiths, spacecakes and misunderstood genii to create a vibrant, warm, occasionally edgy trip into the dark recesses of his warped psyche. One of Britain's finest up-and-coming sci-fi writers has created a cult-classic podcast th... more
The Ad Astral Podcast is a good showcase of DJ Burnham's work. The writing is excellent. I think it shows a lot of promise. I particularly enjoyed the second episode. Give this one a try.
