  • Too biased

I read the transcript of one of the episodes on the creation of Israel and it is very biased. Israel is described as though it is doing all it can to prevent deaths of civilians and contrasted with the barbarity of Hamas. Israel’s investigations into casualties is mentioned but not how incredibly biased those are, nor the atrocities committed on prisoners held by IDF. I wonder what their position is now that starving Gazans are literally being shot while trying to get food. Also no mention of re... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Pop Quiz | Remember the California Wildfires?
Q: A year, a little over a year ago, there was a major historic event, I think, in the California wildfires. Could you give our audience an update on the very recent history without getting too deep into politics?
Updates indicate very few homes have been rebuilt; permits are still being processed and, by the end of last year, only a few hundred to a thousand had gone through, with ongoing regulation and bureaucracy slowing the rebuild.
Pop Quiz | Taiwan
Q: How would disruption of semiconductor supply influence strategic calculations for all parties involved?
Semiconductor dependence amplifies economic and military stakes; losing access to advanced chips would pressure both China and the United States to avert a total war and push for negotiation or a negotiated peace, as the global tech ecosystem and economies would suffer dramatically from any prolonged shutdown.
Pop Quiz | Taiwan
Q: What are the main factors that would determine U.S. involvement or non-involvement in a Taiwan crisis?
Key factors include political leadership in the United States, the strategic value of semiconductors, alliance commitments with regional partners, and domestic economic considerations that could constrain or compel action, especially given the need to protect vital supply chains and maintain regional stability.
Pop Quiz | Taiwan
Q: Based on your knowledge of history, which precedent is more likely to happen to Taiwan, based on your knowledge of history?
The more likely path is a stalemate or compromise scenario similar to the Cuban Missile Crisis and Korean War dynamics, where power dynamics and regional deterrents prevent a quick resolution or clear victory, leading to a prolonged stand-off rather than a swift conquest.
Pop Quiz | Steve Jobs
Q: Do you think that his absence and the lack of that leadership style is part of what has made Apple a less innovative and less kind of boundary-pushing company today?
The hosts debated that Apple has continued to innovate, although the competitive landscape has changed, making it harder to identify singular innovations.
