本篇系《金陵光》中文报发刊词，载1913年2月《金陵光》第4卷第1期。《金陵光》是我国最早的大学学报之一 ，为学生所办。1909年12月创刊。初为英文报，从第4卷第1期起接受陶行知的倡议，增设中文报，陶行知任编辑，自第5卷第5 期起，任中文主笔。在1913至1914年两年间，他在该报发表的文章约18篇(内有英文稿、译稿，用名陶文潜、知行)，涉及政治、社会、教育、医学等各方面，多切中时弊，令人警醒。
四月十日起在中西电台广播，每日正午起播音半小时。普及教育助成会、晨报馆及儿童科学通讯学校为提倡普教起见，特共同创办半小时普及教育，定于本月十日起，每日中午十二时至十二时三十分，在中西药房无线电台播送。
