Conspirituality

Dismantling New Age cults, wellness grifters, and conspiracy-mad yogis. At best, the conspirituality movement attacks public health efforts in times of crisis. At worst, it fronts and recruits for the fever-dream of QAnon. As the alt-right and New Age horseshoe toward each other in a blur of disinformation, clear discourse, and good intentions get smothered. Charismatic influencers exploit their f... more

  • Daughter streamer

Streamers are entertainers and are very appreciated by their fans. Having streams on hours at a time is like having music or tv on. Very insulting your assumptions about this HUGE industry. And people do listen to Hasan and appreciate his contribution to the political dialogue. He literally fact checks in real time. What is your problem with him?

  • Come on, guys

A show on the topic of conspirituality is much needed in this world now but the tone these guys often take is often snarky and sneering. Worse, when they offer some critiques, like “Is Erica Chenoweth a willing lapdog to status quo liberalism and capitalist power?” they seem to be engaging in cheap click bait as she herself has complicated the issue and clarified her claims. These guys are the very meat of blowhard pomposity that fails any test of actual reasoning.

  • JP Sears episode

Love the show, the nuance, the topics. Each host offers something interesting, which is great and Julian’s giggle, keeps me going lol.

I have listened to most episodes. The JP Sears episode got me really annoyed with Matthew repetitively arguing his point to Julian and with an attitude that was unnecessary. I have noticed he does the same with Derek too. We get it, you disagree with them. But I thank you all for what you’re doing. That’s what counts IMO.

Book Club: How the Internet Disrupted Science
Q: What should be done to restore trust and quality in science communication?
Slow down public-facing communication, reinforce rigorous peer review, support scientific societies, and reform the economics of publishing so that the focus is on serving the scientific community rather than maximizing clicks or funding scales.
Book Club: How the Internet Disrupted Science
Q: How did preprint servers change the landscape of scientific publishing?
Preprint servers accelerated access and opened up publication, but without upfront quality control, they invited predatory practices and monetization schemes that undermine trust in science; the system shifted toward profit-driven motives.
Book Club: How the Internet Disrupted Science
Q: Why did you write this book?
We were alarmed by how publishing incentives and online dynamics were distorting science, and we felt the need to ring an alarm bell for society to understand the downstream effects on policy and daily life.
REWIND: Tulsi Gabbard’s Krishna Consciousness (w/Nitai Joseph)
Q: What does Nitai think motivates Tulsi Gabbard beyond conventional politics?
Nitai suggests her fluid political identity reflects commitments to a charismatic religious movement and its aims, with strong ties to the guru dynamics and governance structures of her background.
Brief: The Stepford Wives Conference
Q: What is the focus of this summit and how is it marketed to attendees?
The summit is marketed as a women's leadership event aimed at empowering attendees, with a branding that blends holistic health, ancestral wisdom, and traditional values, while being deeply embedded in conservative political activism through TPUSA connections and sponsor partnerships.
