Dismantling New Age cults, wellness grifters, and conspiracy-mad yogis. At best, the conspirituality movement attacks public health efforts in times of crisis. At worst, it fronts and recruits for the fever-dream of QAnon. As the alt-right and New Age horseshoe toward each other in a blur of disinformation, clear discourse, and good intentions get smothered. Charismatic influencers exploit their f... more

  • From long time listener

I listened to you faithfully for the entire pandemic. Then you started producing lots of episodes and I started skipping some. You fell out of my rotation completely in 2024 and any time I check how my used-to-be-favorite podcast is doing I find incoherent episode full of fanatical leftism, truely extremist stuff, often self-contracting. Especially Matthew sounds like he has found new exciting cult to join (3rd time the charm!). Maybe you always were leftist extremists, grasping for elaborate ex... more

  • All Brains, no Heart

I listened to the Unraveling the Telepathy Tapes episode and wanted to learn more about facilitated communication from another perspective.

That led me to a documentary called Spellers that follows non-speaking autistic individuals who use spelling to communicate. You can actually see real footage of people using letter boards.

I’m guessing the guys on this podcast will dismiss this documentary because it doesn’t prove that it works with the correct scientific tests, and also because it is ass... more

  • Come on, guys

A show on the topic of conspirituality is much needed in this world now but the tone these guys often take is often snarky and sneering. Worse, when they offer some critiques, like “Is Erica Chenoweth a willing lapdog to status quo liberalism and capitalist power?” they seem to be engaging in cheap click bait as she herself has complicated the issue and clarified her claims. Come on, guys, don’t make the world worse right now. Can you see the number of interested and reasonable people saying the... more
