Dismantling New Age cults, wellness grifters, and conspiracy-mad yogis. At best, the conspirituality movement attacks public health efforts in times of crisis. At worst, it fronts and recruits for the fever-dream of QAnon. As the alt-right and New Age horseshoe toward each other in a blur of disinformation, clear discourse, and good intentions get smothered. Charismatic influencers exploit their f... more

I can’t trust the research that goes into a show if you’re mispronouncing names of main characters. Several episodes in, there’s just too much sloppiness, from mouth noises and room ambience in the narrator’s mic to patently uncritical stances with unnamed (thus hidden) biases posing as neutral. It’s a terrible waste because the concept behind the show is a good one, it’s just the execution that’s lazy.
But please say “of Jesus” not “Jesus’s” which sounds like Jesuszez and distorts the name so much.
Very inciteful and enjoyable to listen to. One of my fav podcasts

Episodes highlight high-profile individuals within the conspiracy landscape, the draw of cult-like movements in contemporary society, and the impact of cognitive dissonance on followers of these ideologies. Unique to this offering is its focus on dismantling not only conspiracies but also the broader cultural narratives that enable such beliefs, pr... more
