For this episode, Moira walks Adrian through the troubled and troubling story of congresswoman Nancy Mace -- a moderate who first became MAGA, then a vicious transphobe, and then became a gendered apostate from that movement (while remaining hugely t... more
For this episode, Adrian and Moira discuss the life, career and (many, many) opinions of Lena Dunham -- creator of Girls, writer of memoirs and the face that launched a million think-pieces back in the 2010s. They touch on the gendered attacks, quest... more
In this episode, Moira walks Adrian through the history of Mifepristone. Developed in France in the 1980s, this medication (which, together with Misoprostol, is used to end pregnancies) has been a flashpoint in Europe and the United States pretty muc... more
In this episode, Adrian walks Moira through the strange politics of plagiarism hunting -- an (initially non-partisan) German preoccupation that became another line of attack in the right wing assault on higher education in the United States. The epis... more

I really enjoy that I have to look up two to three words each time I listen to Adrian. His vocabulary is astounding. He reminds me of my favorite college professor, a man who spoke at least a dozen languages and emanated pure joy. I appreciate the insights and information!
Update 2: Moira is becoming increasingly hyperbolic and declarative in the same fashion she critiques and it is exhausting. You can 100% get your point across and be right without exaggerating and overgeneralizing almost every point you make.
Update: I think Moira lost me with this Guy Fieri bonus episode. Look, you’ll never get an argument out of me - MAGA is despicable, conservatives have no backbone and I am 100% team liberals. But by golly this episode proved why liberals are so darn annoy... more
I don’t know how they do it, but I come away from each episode smarter than I was before and cackling along with the hosts (no easy feat as I usually find laughing hosts annoying with rare exception but this is a rare exception).
Nothing is too big or too small to be probed and dissected in a fascinating way and their guests are top tier as well.
This isn’t just the podcast we need right now, it’s an excellent resource that also happens to be highly entertaining; what a gem!
Friendly suggestion to interview queer theologian and Aquinas scholar Mark Jordan on natural law, theology, and queer ethics. Love the pod.
Update: I think Moira lost me with this Guy Fieri bonus episode. Look, you’ll never get an argument out of me - MAGA is despicable, conservatives have no backbone and I am 100% team liberals. But by golly this episode proved why liberals are so darn annoying lol. Like Guy Fieri openly opposes the Tate Brothers and Moira immediately dismisses it and is pretty much calling him a liar. Thanks goodness for Adrian, who actually tries to be good faith about this stuff, for saying hey let’s take him at... more

Two intellectuals explore right-wing ideas about gender, sexuality, and power through rigorous analysis of historical and contemporary texts, media, and public discourse. Across episodes, the show often centers feminist theory, queer studies, and critical theory to unpack how conservative narratives shape culture, politics, and everyday life, all delivered with sharp humor and scholarly context. Notable strengths include high-quality research, thoughtful guest conversations, and a willingness to critique both historical figures and modern media ecosystems. This mix makes it valuable for listeners seeking a rigorous, theory-forward take on gender and politics, with clear relevance to current debates about rights, representation, and ideology... more
