In recent months, the call to repeal the 19th amendment and rescind American women's right to vote, has proliferated as a hashtag, meme and a shibboleth in certain far-right spaces. But how serious are those championing the cause? In this episode, Mo... more
For this episode, Adrian and Moira talk about gender and food -- specifically about the figure of the chef, visible and invisible labor and masculinity. Their main exemplar is Guy Fieri, the self-declared Mayor of Flavortown, but they also discuss 20... more

Thank you for providing the information I needed to adjust my hate of Phyllis Schlafly to the correct amount. I didn’t hate her nearly enough.
Consistently funny, smart, & thoughtful discussions. Also a great crash course in gender studies/theory
It does feel like I snuck into gender studies without paying (as it should be) and each new episode references written work that gets me excited and interested in trying to read more of the feminist writers that helped pave the way we think about gender today. My delight when I checked out “right wing women” to find that Moira wrote the introduction on the version carried in my library was such a cherry on top! (My only sadness is I do have a big crush on Moira’s laugh )

This is a really enjoyable podcast. For the most part it avoids being overly snarky and maintains a level of thoughtfulness I truly appreciate. However, I find at times a lack of specificity in some of the episodes that can be frustrating. For example, the Tech Vibe Shifts episode about AI was literally the generalized, vague convo I’ve heard from them. The kept saying things like “These companies..,” “These people..,” “These billboards” “Conservatives this or that” without any real info on who ... more

A deeply analytical show that examines right-wing ideas about gender, sexuality, and culture through a scholarly lens. Each episode often builds a theory-forward critique, drawing on feminism, queer theory, and political history to unpack how gender narratives shape public discourse and policy. Notable strengths include rigorous textual analysis, a knack for connecting historical context to contemporary issues, and a dynamic host duo who balance provocative ideas with careful sourcing. Listeners likely seek rigorous, niche critique of power structures, with frequent references to academia and social theory. The format's emphasis on long-form discussion and primary-source framing is a standout feature that makes complex topics accessible to ... more
