How refreshing it is to hear folks selflessly giving back to the community while empowering the youth of today. Much respect to the coaches at YALD for the culture you are creating, and to Aldo for highlighting their work.
Community based organizations are sometimes the backbone of the places that they serve. I knew that YALD existed and was doing great work for NYC youth, but I didn’t know the behind the scenes components that make it such a great organization. This podcast really sheds a light on how YALD began, why it began, and the impact that it has had and is still having.
My son is finally enrolled in YALD & I am grateful for this program and so happy about this podcast! Hearing the backstory + knowing that my son is in the hands of humans with such heart & dedication is heartwarming. I watched these men as boys play football on my block. Seeing where they took their passion for football and filling the gap in our neighborhood to this height is mind-blowing.
